LAHORE:

An additional district and sessions judge on Wednesday sought comments from the Shahadra station house officer in a petition filed by a woman seeking a case against her husband.

She alleged that he had beaten her when she refused to give him money to purchase drugs.

Petitioner Shakooran Bibi said she had married Muhammad Sadiq seven years ago. She said they had four children.

She said she worked as a maid to earn a livelihood.

She said her husband did not like to work and spent his time gambling. She said her husband asked her for money to purchase drugs and for gambling. She said two of their children were in school.

The petitioner said she did not have enough money to also give some to her husband. She said when she refused to give him money, he often beat her.

She said a week ago, her husband had again asked for money and she had refused. She said he then beat her for refusing.

She said she had approached the police but they did not entertain her complaint.

She asked the court to direct the police to register a case against her husband.
