Money matters: KTH approves Rs1.01b budget for 2013-14

Request sent for additional funds for medicines.

PESHAWAR: Khyber Teaching Hospital’s (KTH) Institute Management Council (IMC) on Tuesday approved a financial budget of Rs1.01 billion for KTH, Khyber Medical College (KMC) and Khyber College of Dentistry (KCS) for 2013-14.

The approval came during a meeting chaired by KTH Chief Executive Professor Dr Inayat Shah Roghani and attended by other members of the IMC and principals of KMC and KCD, stated a press release issued by the hospital. Dr Shah briefed participants regarding the hospital’s present financial and administrative position, urging them to make a joint effort to improve the facility.



The council approved a budget of Rs1,007 million and requested the finance department to increase the budget for medicines, saying an additional grant of Rs8 million was approved for electric work in the residential complex of the KTH. The council also approved Rs39 million for procuring transport facilities for students of KMC.

IMC members forwarded a recommendation for recruitment of 20 charge nurses, 25 ward orderlies, 10 watchmen, 25 sweepers and five midwives to the finance department in order to improve healthcare facilities at KTH. Dr Muhammad Hafeez was recommended by the council for appointment as Senior Registrar, Department of ENT at KTH.



The members of IMC stressed on the need to provide every possible facility to poor patients and lauded the efforts of the chief executive in this regard.
