Nearly 85 percent of all dengue cases reported in Karachi this year are from North Nazimabad, SITE, Clifton Cantonment Board, Saddar, FB Area, Gulistan-e-Jauhar, Jamshed Road, Liaqutabad, Malir, Landhi and Korangi.
Due to the concentration of the epidemic in certain areas, district administrations are trying to ensure that adequate stock of platelets, antibody kits and blood bags are provided to all major public sector hospitals, said a health department official. “Emphasis is not only being paid towards intervention but also on prevention,” he added. Around 24 vehicles have been added to the fleet of Karachi Metropolitan Corporation’s 36 fumigation vehicles. Fumigation will be doubled around the city according to the commissioner.
