Students of Roots International Schools have joined hands with the traffic police to create awareness among road users about traffic rules, said a press release by the school.
The students in this connection participated in a road safety walk organised by the Islamabad Traffic Police (ITP) on Saturday.
Students stood on Islamabad Toll Plaza and gave safety guidelines to drivers of vehicles and provided them with flyers having road safety measures.
Students from Roots International Schools walked around two kilometres from China Chowk to Express Chowk.
According to a survey, more than 270,000 pedestrians lose their lives on the world’s roads each year accounting for 22% of the total 1.24 million road traffic deaths. Meanwhile, ITP checked commuter vans that were not completing their assigned routes over the past five days and impounded 74 vehicles, a press release stated.
Acting Traffic SSP Asmatullah Junejo said the unit works to address complaints and save commuters from inconvenience.
Junejo said commuters can lodge complaints at 1915 in case they face any problem.
