The Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa government has decided that targeted operation will be carried out throughout the city so that miscreants and militants are chased out. The operation will be carried out in all the four zones.
Quick response force team will be constituted which would consist of both police and FC personnel. This team will be formed at the provincial level.
The city has come under a series of terrorist attacks in the past week which has increased insecurity amongst its residents. Earlier in the day, a blast in the Qissa Khwani area claimed 43 lives while injuring over twice as many.
Last week, a blast in the All Saints Church had claimed over 80 lives.
Earlier Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chairman Imran Khan had said that K-P was being deliberately targeted by forces who did not want to see peace in the country.

I read elsewhere police check posts at entries and exits of Peshawer were removed by KP government. I hope they are replaced at the earliest as they are a serous deterrent against terrorism entering the city. And too, safeguard police officers lives....
Imran khan is confused as ever! Please decide do you want to talk to these terrorists or do you want to chase them.
So what happened to the "give them an office and negotiate" strategy? Further - if your going to battle the terrorist then moving them from one quarter of the city to another is a waste of time - akin to the S. Waziristan offensive where you spent months in preparation, allowed a ready escape route, and didn't kill or capture any important Taliban. Your goal should be clear - eliminate the bad guys not move them around.
To "chase them out"? Thats it?
Surely they mean arrested and prosecuted, not chased out? This is not a game.
@mir: You are not satisfied by hook or by crook. They want to catch the perpetrators of the attack. And ET nicely puts that they want to chase them away. Et at its best biasedness. IK wants talks but not at the cost of 100 lives.
If this was a serious effort it would never have been announced or even allowed to be leaked to the press.
Noe everybody has started criticising I.K. At least KPK govt is doing something ....they can't have peace talks as federal govt doesn't seem interested in it so what else they should do.Now if they are taking any action we should support them.
Please tell us what those 4 zones are ..... This is a good development but it has its risks and danger is involved for the citizens. THE CITIZENS MUST KNOW WHICH ARE THE 4 ZONES AND WHICH ZONE THEY BELONG TO.

"Comb each and every house(in a country where 200 million people live), chase them out and eliminate them". Realism has taken a hike. These solutions are being offered on this comment board, if it was this simple, the world's largest army should have finished them off 12 years back.
Let us hope the KP government give a free hand to its professionally competent and dedicated towards duty Home Secretary for carrying out the targeted action against the militant,s hideouts in the city of Peshawar. Perhaps the coalition partner of PTI, the JI, is also on board.
@mir: Because he has learned that these people are not willing to offer any peace talks and it has come to a time when a target operation is necessary. 11 years of fighting had not worked before which is why IK opted for a new stance ie peace talks
Impose curfew for a week in whole country and ask army to comb each and every house. After that all entry into and our of Pakistan be monitored. That's the only solution!!!
They need to take a firm position, unfortunately their current stance is kiddish, first they used to put everything on drones, now they link most of attacks with conspiracies. If IK announces strong fight against TTP, our nation wont remain polarized anymore.

The way the KPK government has forewarned the terrorists by announcing this action I don’t think Taliban friendly KPK government is serious.
The problem lies not within city bt with adjacent areas . The roads connecting with trible areas should b monitered to check attacks .

I hope peshawarites do not become IDPs. Terrorist funding sources and smuggling of arms and ammunition needs to be ceased inorder to bring peace in our Country. All it needs is willingness of people and the Government. Also, ANP needs to stop criticising current Govt because there time was also full of attacks, chaos and extreme lawlesness....
The hub is FATA, which come under federal rule(not PTI)..so if that area is not controlled, it is akin to cutting leaves of a tree, the roots of which is exposed to rotten water.
