HYDERABAD/ KARACHI: While indignant outcries over the recent wave of sexual crimes against minor girls can still be heard, two more such incidents added more gravity to the picture.

On Saturday, a six-year-old girl was reportedly raped by her cousin in Orangi Town area of Karachi. Her cousin was arrested after the girl told the police that he was the one responsible for the crime.

A similar incident was reported from Kotri, Jamshoro, where a 7-year-old girl was allegedly raped by a young man on Friday evening. The girl’s father said the victim was returning from tuition in the evening when the accused, Waqas Arain, abducted her. Dr Rukhsana Shaikh examined the child and issued the medical certificate confirming that she had been raped. “She is being treated and her condition will improve in a day or two,” the doctor said.

A case has been registered against the accused under sections 375 and 376 of the Pakistan Penal Code.

Sindh Chief Minister Qaim Ali Shah has taken notice of the case in Kotri, and has directed the Hyderabad deputy inspector general to take strict action against the criminals.
