Survey result: 61% Pakistanis have ‘no opinion’ about United Nations

Respondents from 39 countries were asked whether they had an unfavourable or a favourable view of the 193-member body.

Some 61% respondents in Pakistan had ‘no opinion’ on the world’s largest multilateral organisation. Responding to a survey conducted by the Pew Research Centre where respondents from 39 countries across the globe were asked whether they had an unfavourable or a favourable view of the 193-member body, a large majority of the respondents in Pakistan answered no opinion.

Clear majorities in 22 of the 39 countries surveyed say they have a favourable view of the UN, including thumbs-up from Security Council permanent members Britain, France and the US. Views trend negatively, however, in key Middle Eastern publics, including Israel, the Palestinian territories, Jordan and Turkey.

South Koreans expressed the highest support with 84% respondents having a favourable view of the United Nations.

Those with a college degree in Pakistan tend to be more favourable of the UN with 31% respondents with a college degree voicing support for the multilateral body headquartered at New York, compared to a 17% with no college degree.
