HARIPUR:

Two women reportedly committed suicide in different parts of Hazara, according to the police on Wednesday.

The first suicide was reported from Haripur where Rukhsana Shaheen, 35, doused herself in kerosene oil and committed self-immolation. Police said Shaheen set herself alight following an argument with her husband. She was shifted to the Women and Children Hospital where she succumbed to her first-degree burns.

In an another suicide case, Naveed Ahmed, a resident of Hangi Khetar village, told Lora police his wife Kinza Bibi, 26, shot and killed herself. He claimed she was psychologically disturbed over not being able to conceive children despite being married for two years.

Naveed maintained he was grocery shopping when someone informed him of his wife’s death, after which he returned home and found her lying in a pool of blood. Bibi’s parents contested Naveed’s claims, demanding an inquiry into their daughter’s mysterious death.
