Wildlife loss: Blind Indus dolphin found dead

The dead dolphin was male and about 30 years of age.

SUKKUR: A blind Indus dolphin, which had strayed into Khairpur Feeder West, was found dead on Tuesday. The wildlife department was informed that a dolphin was stuck in one of the gates of Khairpur Feeder West in the left pocket of Sukkur Barrage. A team of wildlife department went to the scene and shifted the dead dolphin to the dolphin centre near Lab-e-Mehran, Sukkur. The deputy director of the wildlife department in Sukkur, Ghulam Mohammad Gadani, told The Express Tribune that the dead dolphin was male and about 30 years of age. The dolphin was 6.6 feet long and weighed more than 60 kilogrammes. There were no wounds found on the body of the dolphin, he said while confirming that it was a natural death.
