The second day of the 3rd Jubilee Insurance Ranking Snooker Championship saw two stunning encounters as youngster Mohsin Amin triumphed against seasoned campaigner Muhammad Sajjad 4-1 while Khurram Agha shocked top seed Imran Shehzad 4-0 at the Sheraton Hotel.
Mohsin played a brilliant match against Sajjad – who is due to participate in the IBSF 6-Red World Championship and World Team Championship along with Mohammad Asif – as he won with scores of 55-39, 66-46, 61-23, 03-87 and 77-54.
Khurram outplayed Imran, who had scored a break of 131 points, through game scores of 76-20, 69-08, 72-69 and 103-18, while earlier, he defeated Abu Saim 4-2.
On day one, defending champion Asjad Iqbal had also suffered two shocking losses, but he saved himself from an exit by winning 4-1 against Babar Masih yesterday.
Meanwhile, Masih gave IBSF World Champion Asif a tough time in his second match of the day as he led 3-1 at one stage. However, Asif bounced back to win 4-3. Asif’s second outing of the day was an easy affair as he beat Mohammad Bilal 4-0.
Talented cueist Muhammad Majid was involved in a seven-frame battle with Muhammad Ishtiaq in which he was down 3-1, but went on to win 4-3.
Another youngster Humza Akbar increased his chances of getting a berth for the IBSF event as he beat Naveen Perwani 4-3. But Perwani made amends for his earlier loss by beating Abdul Sattar 4-2 in his second match.
Meanwhile, one of the players complained that the cooling in the venue was too low compared to the standard set.
“The table is not responding the way it should because of this cooling issue and we are finding it extremely difficult to adjust to the pace of the ball,” he told The Express Tribune.
