According to the report, Pakistan will discuss its objections over the 850 MW Ratle on the Chenab River, 1000 MW Pakal Dul on the Marusaadar River, 120 MW Miyar, and 48 MW Lower Kalnai and hydro projects, proposed to be constructed by India in the Chenab basin.
Pakistan had already lodged a protest with India through the Indus Water Commission and the Foreign Office against the reduction in water flow in the River Chenab.
In June this year, Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh had laid the foundation stone for the Ratle project on Chenab river.
The five member Pakistani delegation will meet with their Indian counterparts under provisions of the 1960 Indus Water Treaty. Commissioners from both sides are required to meet at least once a year, alternately in India and Pakistan.

@Khurram The Muhajir: Offcourse, tens of thousands of years, even before your Jewish masters were born-let alone the camel herder from the desert, Kashmir was Kashyappas land.You think we let you go because of your Islamism? nope, because you are not us-not the same race, just as scythians are not Vedic peoples, Pakistanis cannot become Indians or be part of the Indian Gotra of Kashyappa.Sorry.
Our ability to raise objections shows that we have become a global superpower.
@Water Bottle: have you ever heard about Indus Basin treaty..oh offcourse not ..you are an indian...
@Bakhtiyar Ghazi Khan - India has never respected any of its international agreements with anyone.

All Pakistani objections are in vain......
Who thinks that Taliban want peace? In fact Taliban want to regain their lost monopoly,supremacy and hold in the tribal areas most especially importantly in KPK like before Swat operation and want to release their jailed prisoners in different jails of Pakistan this is why Taliban are playing a false drama to hold peace talks with Pakistan's civil and military leadership on their own terms and conditions......
Dipak@Observer: Complaining against Bhasha dam and power plant is just a gimmic by my India. I want every single magawatt of 7200 MW Bhasha dam electricity and water to go to Pakistan. India is no longer actively complaining for Northern Areas, Gigit-Baltistan. On the top of Bhasha, I believe Pakistan can build hundreds of mini-hydel power plants on the discharge water. Good luck Pakistan.
India's Objection to Daimer Bhashsa Dam is legal , valid and recognized by the World Bank. +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ And hence the impossibility of funding the billions needed for this twice inaugurated project.
@SherKhan: " Such issues always do exist and can be worked out amicably. As I said, whatever India wishes to do – fine – but let us move with sensibilities and brotherhood in the back of our mutual minds." ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ Brother too much terror and Kargil and Mumbai has flown down for what you desire. Its bare legal niceities from now on.
@SherKhan:
"BTW: Indus is ours and Jhelum is ours – Why have you guys harbored objections upon Mangla, Neelum-Jhelum and now Bhasha."
India is correct to object any projects in Gilgit-Baltistan and Northern Areas. They are not part of Pakistan as per Pakistani constitution while they are part of India as per Indian constitution.
@Polpot
I am not witness to the second part and do not know of it. “Ordered half of the construction” – I failed to read and decipher you.
Kalabagh is our headache - let us deal with it.
BTW: Indus is ours and Jhelum is ours - Why have you guys harbored objections upon Mangla, Neelum-Jhelum and now Bhasha. Hahahaha !!!!!
Please read my message “I am appalled –“ like a 67 years old Indian. We have a treaty internationally harbored. Whatever you do to those rivers – they belong to somebody else – take them into confidence.
Hey, hey, hey: I am talking downright civility !!!!!!
@Naveen
My dear sir. I do not live in no ivory tower. I speak principles - par excellence. And, from the world’s greatest secular democratic order I expect even better.
My quote was metaphoric. I however sincerely do think that you perhaps a being from the belief “maiya mori main nahin makhan khayo” might wish to embrace the preamble and excel it !!!!!!
SherKhan@Dipak
Within limited constraints India can build dams for power projects over the eastern rivers but cannot curtail its volume of outflow or runoff. As a matter of fact by building dams India deregulates the runoff of flow by damming it. And, that is wrong because then Pakistan cannot plan its downstream water management operations.
Such issues always do exist and can be worked out amicably. As I said, whatever India wishes to do – fine – but let us move with sensibilities and brotherhood in the back of our mutual minds. Look at Europe, they used to be at loggerheads – now, they have no frontiers. Let us start acting as 67 years old’s.
Ravi, Sutlej and Beas is India’s runoff – if I might say sewer. Under IBT these rivers and their waters were India’s to keep. Nowadays Pakistan only sees their flood havoc.
The rest of your comments defy magnanimity – so I shall act as if you never said that – most Indians by and large are quite civil – I have many as my friends in the US !!!!!!!
Dipak@Sharjil: It looks like you do not understand how the run of the river power plants are built with water from the dams continue to release downstream. Your government knows this but there is no money left in the budget to build dams and power plants. In Pakistan, government is ruled by Millitary and religion twisting mullahs. They prefer to build nuclear bombs rather than spend money to construct dams and power plants. It's unfortunate ordinary Pakistanis are kept away from the real knowledge by Millitary. I am sure young Pakistani generation is learning fast and the change will eventually come. With all the natural resources Pakistan can generate additional 45,000 MW of hydroelectric plants in addition to solar and wind power. Pakistan should have been selling electricity rather than wasting money in bomb making. If you do not want to believe us, just talk to smart Pakistani engineers. They will tell you the same thing.
@Sharjil: So you find my comment funny because you breed like rabbits and blame it on India. So your wise thought is that if you build dams, there will be drought. Well if India is building dams what is your problem? India too will have droughts. It is not that Pakistan cannot build dams. They just do not want to build. Comprador?
Some funny replies. Obviously touched a raw nerve with the population growth issue. Anyway, someone said we should be happy that Kashmiris will benefit. Great! Rob Peter to feed Paul. Thanks India. And some other hero hindustani mentioned we should build our own damns. Hmm, what else do damns cause downstream apart from supplying energy?? Drought maybe?? Could that be the problem here that Pak is protesting about rather than an energy gain for India? Yeah I think so. Strange how Indian commenters always see half the story at best. And they think Pak is incapable of building a damn lolz.
@Water Bottle:
why do you keep your bottle cap screwed on so tight all the time. why can't we think of helping pakistan build a few dams of their own. remember the story of giving fish to people to eat, but if you teach them how to fish...........
Bhai tum Zaid Hamid ke student lagte ho....... @Bakhtiyar Ghazi Khan:
If Pakistan could concentrate more on their economic, educational, health care problems rather wasting energies on Kashmir it will be a great service to people of Pakistan.
If one person comes to India with AK47 and trained in neighborhood (Kasaab,tunda) , we should build Memorial in his name.... Mohammad azmal kasaab memorial dam !
I don't understand logic of Pakistan's objection over Indian power projects in Kashmir --- India should build dams as it like in its area.
Also, now time has come that India should cancel 'Indus Water Treaty'. Pakistan given unjustified preferences in this treaty as a reward of slavery to Western Powers (in '60s).
@Sharjil: Yes, India' population is increasing. An average Hindu family consists of 4-5 in a household while that of a Muslim is 7-9. This is the same for Pakistan (read:energy demand).
Just for the recorded, India is also objecting to Bhasha dam in Pakistani Kashmir.
I raise objection for not building dams at all in Pakistan.
Congress party has sold Indian rivers to Pakistan for its aman ki asha.
Why do we need anyone's permission to build our dams and who is anyone to tell us how to use our water.
This water treaty is a farce.
Dearest Incredible India, please remember that while China controls your rivers also, she does accept her population control responsibilities by instituting a 1child policy, therefore limiting its power demand increase. We all know how India's population (read:energy demand) will surpass China's soon enough. If China exponentially increased her power demand, no doubt India would raise concerns also. So for all our sakes, get things under control. Why should Pak or any other nation give its water away to satisfy permanent Indian population explosion? India should actually grow up instead of just growing.
Miss you Musharraf!
"Pakistan to raise objections over four Indian power projects in Kashmir +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ Pls report when Pakistan does not raise objections..........Pakistan being champions in raising objections.
@SherKhan: '" I am appalled to see that India starts construction of their projects without the blue prints of the project preapproved by the two cosigning parties. " ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ Pakistan is champiuons at raising objections...whether it be domestic dams (Kalabagh) or Indian dams. Merely raising objections is not adequate grounds for halting construction. Recently for the Indian Kishanganage Project the arbitrators ordered half of contruction based on Pakistani objections and then after scrutiny permitted construction to proceed. Lesson is obvious; trifling objections are no cause for delaying construction of Indian dams.
@SherKhan: You seriously think even a bucket of water taken out of that river without permission of Pakistan counts as a theft? In what ivory towers do you live Sir? These rivers travel hundreds of kilometre and in their path come several Indian cities and villages before they enter Pakistan. Where do you think the city & village dwellers supposed to get their fresh water supply from?
Dipak@SherKhan: It's unfortunate, you have no idea about Indus water treaty. Yes, you have Indus, Chenab and Jhelum rivers with India having rights over certain waters where India is legally building dams and run of the river power plants. The same way Pakistan gets the water from Indian rivers Sutlej, Ravi and Beas. I am sorry most Pakistanis don't understand the rules. Your governments, past, current and future know the rules, therefore, they don't do much other than objecting against India's projects once in a while to please ordinary Pakistanis.
@Last Word: if India had not embarked on these hydro projects Pakistanis would have bitterly complained about how Indians are starving poor Kashmiris of power and Saeed of Jamaat would have called for jihad against India. There is no pleasing these people. Forget them and do your best as India is doing.
India should scrap the treaty.
The venom continues to gush forth unabated. Indian commentators!
@Abdul: No doubt Pakistan has so called Mullahs, all they have religious rhetoric and no action. Just imagine how Kashmir's will benefit by having more electric power. you guys like to talk and talk. Pakistan need lot of energy and your politicians do nothing. India is no doubt need energy too and they are working towards it. Please let others mind their business and you keep your mouth shut.
@Abdul: "Pakistan is not against Kashmiris getting electricity. All we want is that they get it from Pakistan, not from these illegal Indian power projects." Where is the power that Pakistan to give Kashmiris? You are unable to give power to your own population!.
A nation that is hemorrhaging from within – how can it fight the real truer battles for its long term survival? I just wish this government - any government for that matter, digs down deep and safeguard our guaranteed water rights under Indus Basin Water Treaty.
Waters of the three eastern rivers Indus, Jhelum and Chenab belong to us and their net flow must not be tempered with. Even a single bucketful water lost unto us without our permission is intrinsically a theft.
Nothing happens by wishing for it. It has to be made to happen. I am appalled to see that India starts construction of their projects without the blue prints of the project preapproved by the two cosigning parties. The truer lack of goodwill and dishonesty lies right there.
What are our leaders doing – they are busy looting us. In the meantime India is making hey while the sunshine’s !!!!!
@Abdul: "Pakistan is not against Kashmiris getting electricity. All we want is that they get it from Pakistan, not from these illegal Indian power projects."
What have you got to say about this? It seems many brainwashed Kashmiri Muslim youth don't want to fight for Pakistan anymore! They want to come back to India. They say they have a better life staying in India with their family than living a life of a militant in Pakistan. http://www.nytimes.com/2013/09/07/world/asia/homesick-militants-are-offered-a-way-back-to-kashmir.html?ref=pakistan&_r=1&
@Last Word: The rhetoric is for the plebs and foot soldiers. In reality, everything boils down land and water.
We will build another 36 , to make it 40 , in stead of 4 . Do what ever you want ? Generous India gave 3 rivers , now still they complain . Divert all those rivers and end the matter at once.
From Indian perspective, The Indus water treaty is the worst treaty India ever signed. There was no reason for India to sign the treaty, What does India get out of it ? Delay amounting to very high construction costs on all projects. There are rivers like Brahmaputra that flow from China to India. If India asks China for a river water treaty on Brahmaputra, they would laugh at India.
@Abdul: you have enough power for existing population of Pakistan that you are talking about supplying power to Kashmir? Term fools paradise comes to month. I thought PoK / Azad Kashmir also has power problem? Is it power surplus now?
@abdul meri Jaaan first lets provide power to Pakistanis then worry about illegal power to Kashmiris.
Dipak@Abdul: Wishful thinking. Four wars, all lost. Kashmir is India already. The country that can not produce enough electricity wants to send power to Indian Kashmir. First take care of your load shedding.
@Last Word
Pakistan is not against Kashmiris getting electricity. All we want is that they get it from Pakistan, not from these illegal Indian power projects.
@Khurram The Muhajir: Thanks for your endorsement. Now there is no need for any Indian to say beyond your comment.
It is quite ironic that Pakistan is raising objections against the generation of additional power for Kashmiris who suffer from acute power shortage during the winter season and for whom it claims to provide all type of supports and sacrifices.
No problem, Pakistan should object to power projects in India. Then loose in International court or to independent expert. Same as usual.
These rivers are our life line, which is being squeezed. In the west, there is blatant support of the insurgencies, but we don't have the leadership, which looks the opponent in the eye.
All I can say is Hahahahahah and all that India will say is HAHA..HAHAHAH..HA. Then they will put their Serious Face on and will wave a hand in the air randomly, and the Pakistani mosquitoes will stop buzzing. And there shall be peace again, till next time.
I am anticipating the sailaab of Indian commentators claiming how Kashmir is "atoot ang" of "Maha Bhaarat".
Will you remain a baby even after 65 years, Pakistan?
Or will you grow up someday?
wont affect much.... we will continue with the construction...... what a nation... do not build ur own dams and let others not build either....
Article would be better if it outlined Pakistan's basis for the objection.
Yawn!
