According to the report, Pakistan will discuss its objections over the 850 MW Ratle on the Chenab River, 1000 MW Pakal Dul on the Marusaadar River, 120 MW Miyar, and 48 MW Lower Kalnai and hydro projects, proposed to be constructed by India in the Chenab basin.
Pakistan had already lodged a protest with India through the Indus Water Commission and the Foreign Office against the reduction in water flow in the River Chenab.
In June this year, Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh had laid the foundation stone for the Ratle project on Chenab river.
The five member Pakistani delegation will meet with their Indian counterparts under provisions of the 1960 Indus Water Treaty. Commissioners from both sides are required to meet at least once a year, alternately in India and Pakistan.

Dipak@Observer: Complaining against Bhasha dam and power plant is just a gimmic by my India. I want every single magawatt of 7200 MW Bhasha dam electricity and water to go to Pakistan. India is no longer actively complaining for Northern Areas, Gigit-Baltistan. On the top of Bhasha, I believe Pakistan can build hundreds of mini-hydel power plants on the discharge water. India is correct to object any projects in Gilgit-Baltistan and Northern Areas. They are not part of Pakistan as per Pakistani constitution while they are part of India as per Indian constitution.

Within limited constraints India can build dams for power projects over the eastern rivers but cannot curtail its volume of outflow or runoff. As a matter of fact by building dams India deregulates the runoff of flow by damming it. And, that is wrong because then Pakistan cannot plan its downstream water management operations.
Such issues always do exist and can be worked out amicably. As I said, whatever India wishes to do – fine – but let us move with sensibilities and brotherhood in the back of our mutual minds. Look at Europe, they used to be at loggerheads – now, they have no frontiers. Let us start acting as 67 years old’s.
Ravi, Sutlej and Beas is India’s runoff – if I might say sewer. Under IBT these rivers and their waters were India’s to keep. Nowadays Pakistan only sees their flood havoc.

Your government knows this but there is no money left in the budget to build dams and power plants. In Pakistan, government is ruled by Millitary and religion twisting mullahs. They prefer to build nuclear bombs rather than spend money to construct dams and power plants. It's unfortunate ordinary Pakistanis are kept away from the real knowledge by Millitary. I am sure young Pakistani generation is learning fast and the change will eventually come. With all the natural resources Pakistan can generate additional 45,000 MW of hydroelectric plants in addition to solar and wind power. Pakistan should have been selling electricity rather than wasting money in bomb making. If you do not want to believe us, just talk to smart Pakistani engineers. They will tell you the same thing.

I don't understand logic of Pakistan's objection over Indian power projects in Kashmir --- India should build dams as it like in its area.
Also, now time has come that India should cancel 'Indus Water Treaty'. Pakistan given unjustified preferences in this treaty as a reward of slavery to Western Powers (in '60s).
@Sharjil: Yes, India' population is increasing. An average Hindu family consists of 4-5 in a household while that of a Muslim is 7-9. This is the same for Pakistan (read:energy demand).
Just for the recorded, India is also objecting to Bhasha dam in Pakistani Kashmir.

Dearest Incredible India, please remember that while China controls your rivers also, she does accept her population control responsibilities by instituting a 1child policy, therefore limiting its power demand increase. We all know how India's population (read:energy demand) will surpass China's soon enough. If China exponentially increased her power demand, no doubt India would raise concerns also. So for all our sakes, get things under control. Why should Pak or any other nation give its water away to satisfy permanent Indian population explosion? India should actually grow up instead of just growing.

Lesson is obvious; trifling objections are no cause for delaying construction of Indian dams.

Yes, you have Indus, Chenab and Jhelum rivers with India having rights over certain waters where India is legally building dams and run of the river power plants. The same way Pakistan gets the water from Indian rivers Sutlej, Ravi and Beas. I am sorry most Pakistanis don't understand the rules. Your governments, past, current and future know the rules, therefore, they don't do much other than objecting against India's projects once in a while to please ordinary Pakistanis.

Waters of the three eastern rivers Indus, Jhelum and Chenab belong to us and their net flow must not be tempered with. Even a single bucketful water lost unto us without our permission is intrinsically a theft.

From Indian perspective, The Indus water treaty is the worst treaty India ever signed. There was no reason for India to sign the treaty, What does India get out of it ? Delay amounting to very high construction costs on all projects. There are rivers like Brahmaputra that flow from China to India. If India asks China for a river water treaty on Brahmaputra, they would laugh at India.

It is quite ironic that Pakistan is raising objections against the generation of additional power for Kashmiris who suffer from acute power shortage during the winter season and for whom it claims to provide all type of supports and sacrifices.
No problem, Pakistan should object to power projects in India. Then loose in International court or to independent expert. Same as usual.
These rivers are our life line, which is being squeezed. In the west, there is blatant support of the insurgencies, but we don't have the leadership, which looks the opponent in the eye.
All I can say is Hahahahahah and all that India will say is HAHA..HAHAHAH..HA. Then they will put their Serious Face on and will wave a hand in the air randomly, and the Pakistani mosquitoes will stop buzzing. And there shall be peace again, till next time.
