JWP announces Rs1 billion bounty for Musharraf

JWP chief announces bounty of Rs1 billion and 100 acres of farmland for Pervez Musharraf.

QUETTA: In a strange development, chief of the Jamhoori Watan Party (JWP) Nawabzada Talal Bugti has announced a bounty of Rs1 billion and 100 acres of farmland for former military ruler Pervez Musharraf for, what he called, “his crimes against humanity.”

He made this announcement on Saturday at a news conference where PML-N leader Saradar Yaqoob Nasir was also present.

Talal Bugti said that there was no truth in the recent statements of Musharraf. “The former president was involved in crimes against the state, including toppling of a democratic government, killing of Nawab Akbar Bugti, commando operation at Lal Masjid. These crimes are unpardonable,” he said.

Talal Bugti said that Musharraf had undermined the country’s sovereignty and if he was really brave, then he must return to Pakistan and face the courts.

The JWP chief demanded the federal government contact Interpol for bringing Musharraf back to the country as he has become a threat to Pakistan. “He is disclosing state secrets to his foreign masters that may undermine national sovereignty,” Bugti added.

“Brigadier (retd) Masood Malik, a former intelligence officer, had reportedly agreed to appear as a witness in Nawab Akbar Bugti’s murder case during the Musharraf regime,” he claimed and demanded the chief justice of Pakistan bring Musharraf to justice.

Sardar Yaqoob Nasir said that the PML-N was not against the democratic government but has some reservations on its policies. “The PML-N does not want unconstitutional change,” he added. “However, if the government keeps on committing blunders, it will suffer,” he added.

Referring to Musharraf’s recent statements, the PML-N leader said that he wanted cheap publicity.

All these politician, The ones with BACKGROUNDS are fully looking after their people even f they r not a part of the govt...... these two politicians and nawab are people with a proper backgrounds and are sardars of their tribes and they are well off from their fore fathers, this is because of the many new politicians who have disgraced politics the propers one r even not trusted..... Every one knows that Musharraf was a dictator but no law of land allows any one to announce bounty on killing of someone head. People of the land should come forward and make the law strong and should not let any one to use it for their own political mischieves or victimization. Where are the Democrat flag holders and law loving to condemn such statements and invoke law of land. The Supreme Court should come in against such people. My beloved country WE PATRIOTIC COUNTRYMEN will not let you BANANA COUNTRY. COJ has a case in hand to shun strongly. Else every now and then we will have such announcements coming out from one corener or another. How he fled the country as soon as his Uniform was stripped off him, The same uniform which he used to say has become my skin. It's unfortunate for him as even his late father never took him seriously. According to realizable sources (Family) he was dis-owned by the senior Bugti already. Yes, PML (N) senator is also standing behind him, I think Nawaz Shahab thinks that like him Musharraf is also a real softy at heart & will get scared of poor old Mr. Bugti junior. Both of these gentlemen forget, that Musharraf was a SSG Commander & have fought 2 wars (besides what 3-4 attempts on his life) as a soldiers when both these gentlemen were safely away for all that racket. It will take alot more than a statement to scare him away.

Allah didn't put it there after Pakistan was formed and Balochistan was declared a province, it was there for thousands of years. It could have been located in Punjab, which has been supplying water to the whole country. Don't make this about provincialism. There's no such thing if you are talking in a nationalistic spirit. Bugti Saab seems like a jungle boy. He should know he is now in the 21st century and putting out bounty on a former leader's head who is no more corrupt than any of the others is just going to make him, his province, and his country look stupid! And we've had enough of looking stupid in the world. Someone needs to grow up!!!

Imtiaz | 14 years ago | Reply @ Mr. Jameel ur Rasheed: Sir Baluchistan is a province of Pakistan, no one denies that - but the fact is that it is under developed because of its own masters likes of Bugtis. From 1950s they have charged Pakistan for their existence in one form or the other, until Zia-ul-haq split their royalty with the other tribes they used to charge around Rs.45 to 47 crores ever year in cash and kind; multiply that sum with a few decades and you will have many billions to pay out. If they had spent that money equitably in their province probably it would have been the most well developed province in Pakistan. Any thoughts?

All the money given as royalty was used to maintain an army of thugs and bandits who they used to wage war against the state. If these tribals actually cared for their Baloch brethren, they would have spent money on development.... Free Baloch people from the grip of these bandits and give them their true rights!!

General Musharraf has become a victim of his own 'achievement' of his rule - freedom of press. The press is enjoying 'madre pidre ki azadi' which is suicidal for any society. Oh, Field Marshal Ayub Khan, we remember you for your various steps and reforms taken by you in the larger interests of the country - one of them was Press and Publicztions Ordinance. Had this ordinance or a parallel law based on it was in force today, we wouldn't see today's 'madre pidre ki azadi' of journalism.

This is a bounty for murder and cannot be tolerated in any civilized society. PML-N's Sardar Yaqoob Nasir is an accomplice to offering a potential murder. Inciting people to murder should be illegal- tala bugti should not have made these statements, and the media should not have spread such a statement publicizing it far and wide. its highly irresponsible.

Court judgments are accepted by no one, least of all by Musharraf and those he got installed in his place through the NRO. Opponents of the bounty should also look at the former dictator's conduct. His government issued many a bounty for those they declared terrorists. The only legality on his side was the force of arms and nothing else. Now that he is out of power he should dance to his own tune and see how it works. With the world in recession there will be many takers of the bounty offer, whether or not it is genuine. It will do what it is intended to do: scare the living daylights out of the guy and send him scurrying into a rathole. He will be well advised by his followers to stay there. Otherwise, there may be some naive people out there who will take the offer seriously. Personally, I will stick to buying lottery tickets and hope for the best! Note for Mush supporters: Please don't go into where the money has come from. As we all know it does not work in Pakistan.

He should spend that wealth on his poor tribesmen an overwhelming majority of whom is living in sub-human conditions. By the way, who was late Bugti's brood who murdered his wife (Awan's daughtrer)? Wo was that another brood whio killed kalpar tribe leader's family members in karachi's civil hospital while they were under medical treartment there. And lastly, whose brother it was he who stole a large sums of money from his father-in-law mir nabi bux zehri in Karachi.

There is a perception that Balochis are anti-Pakistani or bad guys. All those who criticize media for being showing fake pictures use the arguments given by the media about Balochistan. Balochistan has been supplying the whole nation with Natural Gas and still is the least developed province of country. We feel very proud of Pakistan to be the first Islamic Nuclear power, no one ever realized that Balochistan took injury on its chest to make Pakistan and Pakistanis feel proud. There was no other better site available in any other province in Pakistan. Another such thing is of Reqo Diq gold mine sold to foreign investors with out even making GOB its stake holder. Balochistan has played its part in development of Pakistan and Balochistanis have played their parts by staying un-educated and under developed while the rest of the country prospered. Keep your self at place of Talal Bugti and think what will you do if someone kills your father. Try to get the sentiments of a son instead of criticizing him. I can bet he has Rs. 1 billion with him.

He should free all those women, children, old men and poors whom his own and fellow tribes have been keeping in private prisons and who have been subject to inhumane abuses. He should distribute his wealth and lands to the local poors and help them prosper, and work for promotion of womens rights and education. He should surrender to the law and give up to the army and stop acting on indian agenda of destabilising balochistan. If he still doesn't understand that army had right to put an end to the culture of lawlessness his tribe has been promoting in Balochistan, he should get treatment to help getting rid of his sick fantasy
