Zakir continues to shine at squash event

Beats Bokhari to move into quarters at DG Rangers Open Championship.

KARACHI: Bilal Zakir continued his superb run in the 7th DG Rangers (Sindh) Open Squash Championship moving into the quarter-finals at the Jahangir Squash Complex in North Nazimabad, Karachi.

Zakir once again came back from one set down to defeat eighth-seed Ali Bokhari 3-2 in another five-setter with scores of 8-11, 11-3, 11-1, 4-11 and 11-9.

Top-seed Nasir Iqbal won an easy match against Salman Zaib 3-0 while Farhan Mehboob won in similar fashion against Nosherwan Khan with scores of 11-6, 12-10 and 11-3.

Farhan Zaman won in straight sets against qualifier Israr Ahmed 11-5, 11-8 and 12-10 while Danish Atlas thrashed Ismail Rauf 11-8, 11-3 and 11-6.

Amir Atlas Khan was stretched by qualifier Mohammad Naeem before he eventually winning with scores of 11-4, 18-16 and 13-11.

In the women’s category, top seeds Samar Anjum and Zoya Khalid moved into the next round with easy wins.
