Sridevi entered filmdom and with her stellar performances in movies such as Mr. India, Nagina and Chandni, she instantly built herself a strong fan base. Like most women in our part of the world, she later decided it was time to leave her career behind and fulfill her role as a wife and mother. But after a long hiatus, she made a comeback with English Vinglish and reminded us of how much we loved her. And now, it seems like her 16-year-old daughter Jhanvi might just follow her mother’s footsteps – she’s apparently receiving film offers already.

This doesn’t come much as a surprise as Jhanvi is almost always spotted with her mother on red carpets. And it isn’t just the fashionistics and critics who have kept an eye out for her – film-makers in the South also seem quite interested. “Sridevi has a major fan following down South and she is well-connected in the industry too,” a source close to the family told the Times of India. “And Jhanvi has been getting a lot of offers from Southern producers who are planning and working on Hindi projects.”

Offers include projects starring other star kids from the South Indian film industry. “She has been offered a film opposite Ram Charan, [actor-producer] Chiranjeevi’s son, and another film with [Telugu actor] Nagarjuna’s son,” the source added. “But her parents believe that she is too young right now to start [working] in the industry.”

But the fact that Jhanvi’s mother started her career off as a child actor is giving hope to scouts from the South. “All major film-makers [including] Allu Arvind, Ashwini Dutt and Dil Raju, from regional industries have contacted her father-producer Boney Kapoor,” the source said. “But as of now, Boney has said no.”

Sridevi had earlier told the publication that she wanted her girls to concentrate on school for the time being. “And when she [Jhanvi] completes her studies, ideally, I would like her to get married and settle down. Dekhtey hein aagey [let’s see what happens],” she had said.
