Reshuffling posts: Karachi police chief, DIGs among 18 officers transferred

KARACHI: A massive reshuffling of officials in the police department took place on Thursday, when the city police chief, three zonal DIGs were among the 18 officers transferred. A similar reshuffle of SSP- to SHO-level officers is also likely in a few days. 

According to a notification issued by the services, general administration and coordination department, Karachi AIG Ghulam Qadir Thebo has been transferred and appointed as traffic AIG. He has been replaced by Shahid Hayat Khan, who was previously serving as Special Branch DIG. His appointment has been termed as a political one by several senior officers, who recalled his nomination in the Murtaza Bhutto murder case. Khan has worked as DIG South and East and played an active role in the 1990s operations in Karachi.

Apart from him, traffic additional DIG Zakir Hussain Shah has been posted as Special Branch AIG,  Munir Ahmed Shaikh has been posted as DIG East, from where Captain Tahir Naveed has been posted as finance DIG.

Abdul Khaliq Shaikh, who earlier was working as traffic DIG, has now been asked to take over as DIG South, while Dr Ameer Ahmed Shaikh, who was working as DIG South, is now posted as Crime Investigation Department’s DIG, replacing Dr Kamran Fazal. Jawed Alam Odho has been posted as DIG West while his predecessor, Arif Hanif, has been made traffic DIG.

Mushtaq Ahmed Mahar has been appointed as Headquarters DIG and Sanaullah Abbasi as Special Branch DIG special branch. Sharjeel Kharal has been appointed as Sukkur DIG, Khadim Hussain Rind as Larkana DIG and Farooq Azam as Rapid Response Force DIG. Farhatullah Junejo has been made as administration DIG and replaced by Sarwar Jamali. Bashir Ahmed Memon will take over the post of research and development DIG.

Dear Mr. Arif Hanif, Assalam o Alaikum, DIG, Traffic. Sir, I am senior citizen and have a problem and wish u to help me to resolve. have purchase a suzuki car registration No. AFN 008 throug M/s. IGI INVESTMENT BANK, as per record above car habe been transferred in the name of above bank on Septr., 2004 and collect the Original Registration Book and Number Plate. We have cleared all our outstandings and than running their office and Exciseande Taxation (motor Vehicle Registration Wing, but sorry to say not get any response. finally we approach Honourable Provincial OMBUDSMAN (MOHATASIB), Sindh. I very much thankful and appreciate to get positive action and response vide their letter No. POS/NA/1010/2013 dated 26.09.2013 Address to The Secratary to Government Sindh, Excise and Texation Department. Karachi to take an action and resolve my problem. Now i request you to kindly help me and instruck your traffic Police department, whom i show this paper even they harras me and my family on road, Not to harras me and my family members while driving my car registration no. Note to editor: The post AIG is not the same as Additional IG. AIG is for Assistant IG, a post junior than DIG. While the abbreviation/short for Additional IG is Addl. IG. This post is senior than DIG. The people mentioned above as AIG are actually Addl. IG
