ISLAMABAD: Leaders of the Majlis-e-Wahdat-e-Muslimeen (MWM) Pakistan has demanded that the Pakistan Muslim League- Nawaz (PML-N) government take stern action against terrorists across the country, otherwise, it would consider the regime to be supporters.
They were addressing MWM supporters who had gathered at the Parade Ground here to attend the “defence of the motherland convention” on Sunday to mark the 25th death anniversary of Allama Arif Hussaini.
“Why has the PML-N government failed to take tangible action against the Punjabi Taliban? If they failed to present and thrash out an effective anti-terrorism policy during Monday’s all parties’ conference (APC), they will be considered their abettors,” said head of MWM Allama Raja Nasir Abbas Jafari.
He also called on all political parties participating in the APC to press the government to order an army operation to wipe out the menace of terrorism wherever it has roots and existed.
Thousands of supporters of the MWM from across the country attended the convention and paid homage to the late Allama Hussaini.
Allama Jafari said that Pakistani Shia Muslims were on the frontline in the nation’s war against terrorists and thousands have sacrificed their lives for the cause. He lamented that despite their sacrifices, not a single representative of Shia Muslims has been invited to the Monday’s APC.
Citing financial, logistic and military aid to the terrorists, the head of MWM alleged that the US in connivance with the Saudi monarchy was using them as proxies to spread terror in Pakistan and across the world.
Allama Jafari announced that a country-wide protest will be staged under the aegis of the MWM on Friday to express solidarity with the ‘oppressed’ people of Syria and Egypt.
A resolution was also adopted on the occasion, with a pledge to foil enemies’ plots to spread hatred and terror in the country.
MWM leaders including Allama Hassan Zafar Naqvi, Allama Amin Shaheedi, Athar Imran, renowned intellectual Aga Mortaza Pooya, Syed Mohammad Raza, Allama Maqsood, Allama Abdul Khaliq Asadi, Allama Nayyar Abbas, Allama Tasawwur, Allama Mukhtar, Maulana Abdul Hussain al Hussaini and others also spoke.
