SUKKUR: The Ghotki police managed to rescue two kidnapped persons from near village Soomar Mori situated in the limits of Yaroo Lund Police Station. Both the people belonged to Karachi and had been kidnapped from Jarwar Link Road near Masoo Wah on September 1.

The Ghotki SSP Abdul Salam Shaikh, addressing a press conference in Mirpur Mathelo, said that a heavy contingent of police had raided and cordoned-off Deh Soomar Mori to put pressure on the kidnappers. He added that the kidnappers had tried to shift the kidnapped persons to another place when the police saw them, following which an exchange of fire occurred between the police and the suspected kidnappers. He claimed that the kidnappers managed to escape and left behind the kidnapped persons, Ehsanullah and Iqbal Majeed Jat.

Earlier, Kauro Khan, a resident of Rahim Yar Khan, had summoned Ehsanullah and Iqbal Majeed Jat, both residents of Karachi, to Ghotki with the prospects of jobs in a multinational company.

When both the men reached Ghotki and contacted Kauro Khan, he had asked them to meet his accomplice, Qadir Bux alias Qadoo Lund, who escorted them to his village and kidnapped them at gunpoint.

Bux had later contacted the families of the kidnapped persons through their cell phone and demanded ransom for their release. Their families had informed Karachi police about the matter which passed the information to Ghotki police who started tracing their phone calls.

On September 3, the police conducted a raid and arrested Kauro Khan, but his accomplice managed to escape. Later, police had also raided different villages and arrested four suspects but had failed to rescue the kidnapped persons.

According to sources privy to the matter, the release of both kidnapped persons was the result of a deal between the police and the kidnappers.
