According to the sources, federal government would not directly intervene in what is a provincial matter, rather it would ask the PPP-led Sindh government to conduct targeted operation to curb the ongoing violence in the financial hub of the country.
Federal government would provide the intelligence support to the Sindh government. Army could also be deployed at the request of the provincial government.
Director General Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) and Director General Intelligence Bureau (IB) is expected to attend the meeting.
Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) leader Farooq Sattar has also been invited to attend the meeting.
Nawaz would also chair a meeting on September 2, in Islamabad on overall law and order situation in the country.
Earlier, the prime minister had taken notice of the deteriorating law and order situation in Karachi on Wednesday.
The notice came after the Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) demanded that the army be deployed in Karachi.
PPP in a quandary
The Pakistan People's Party found itself in a dilemma as Sindh Chief Minister Qaim Ali Shah was deemed not a strong enough representative for the provincial government at the Cabinet meeting.
The chief minister himself has requested that Sharjeel Inam Memon be permitted to accompany him in the meeting to bolster the representation and the case for the provincial government in the meeting.

If the operation is taking place in karachi then it should be led by the party who has more seats, votes and stake in karachi, why the CM will lead the operation. The result of the operation will be what happened when MQM's request in national assembly to summon a sesion on voilence turned down. That is why MQM wants army to lead the operation. I think the political gurus have closed their eyes on this part.
The Government should use all its resources to control the law and order of situation in Karachi, no matter who would be pleased or annoyed.
The Government must disclose the figures as how many people have been killed in target killings and who is responsible for killing the political opponents and innocent people.
Unless an iron hand will not be used to stop this menace, there will be no end to it.
Terrorists who are involved in target killings should be tried in Anti Terrorists Courts for speedy trails.
