Forced marriage: Girl runs away, finds shelter at police station

After reading her statements, the court ordered the police to hand her over to her maternal uncle.

Fearing for her life, she said she did not want to go to her parents and opted to go with her maternal uncle, Jawed Ahmed Deho.

The court ordered the police to hand over the girl to her maternal uncle, who on Wednesday night fled from her home escaping a forced marriage.


Shazia Deho took shelter at SITE police station, Sukkur, where she told the police that her father and brothers wanted to marry her off to an elderly man, Iftikhar Deho. When she refused, they allegedly beat her. She wanted to marry Amjad Deho but her father had taken money from Iftikhar, which was why he was forcing her to marry him instead. On Thursday, she was produced in the court of first additional and sessions judge Abdul Majeed Domki. Shazia said that she wanted to marry Amjad but her father and brothers disagreed, SITE police station ASI.

Fearing for her life, she said she did not want to go to her parents and opted to go with her maternal uncle, Jawed Ahmed Deho.

After reading her statements, the court ordered the police to hand her over to her maternal uncle.
