Flood evacuation: Boatmen to assist Rescue 1122

As many as 10 boatmen will be hired on daily wages to evacuate people from the flood-hit areas in Multan.

MULTAN: As many as 10 boatmen will be hired on daily wages to evacuate people from the flood-hit areas in Multan, Rescue 1122 official Rao Muhammad Imran said on Wednesday. Imran said the boatmen knew the area and would assist Rescue 1122 in relief work. Emergency Officer Kaleemullah said that 2,012 people had so far been evacuated. He said 13 teams were engaged in the relief work. “Rescue 1122 has 15 boats, 200 life jackets and three ambulances,” he said.  “Relief camps have been set up in Head Muhammadwala, Qasim Bela, Nawabpur, Jalalabad and Muhammadpur Ghota,” he added.
