Boy scouts celebrate Independence Day with young patients

ISLAMABAD:

Boy scouts celebrated Independence Day with an act of kindness befitting of gentlemen.

The National Headquarters of the Pakistan Boy Scouts Association (PBSA) in Islamabad held a ceremony to commemorate August 14 at the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS) with the children admitted at the hospital.

Boy scouts stood side-by-side with youngsters who are under treatment at the hospital in the federal capital.

The ceremony was part of the PBSA’s decision to celebrate the country’s independence from the British with children nationwide who are away from their homes for different reasons on August 14.

At PIMS, the children jointly sang the national anthem. The under-treatment children were accompanied by their parents and the hospital staff in the celebratory moments.

Boy scouts sang national songs, gave speeches on the topic of freedom and the Pakistan Movement, read poems and performed skits at the colourful ceremony.

Souvenirs, prizes, sweets, flags and gifts were presented to the under-treatment children by the boy scouts.

The PIMS administration thanked the PBSA for organising the ceremony and bringing some happiness in the lives of child patients.

Zahid Mehboob, Usman Pasha, Ghulam Samdani and Bashir Alam organised the event on the PBSA’s behalf.

Tariq Qureshi, provincial secretary of the Punjab Boy Scouts Association, also attended the event.
