Eight people died and several others were injured on Sunday in separate road accidents.
Four people were killed in two road accidents in Jalalpur Jatan. Several others were injured.
Rescue 1122 officials said that 15-year-old Qalbe Abbas and his 11-year-old nephew Ali Haider were on their way to Piju village on a motorcycle when they were hit by a speeding car on Gujrat Road. The car driver fled. Abbas and Haider were killed on the spot.
In another incident, two cousins- Nasir, 15, and Suleman, 7- were hit by a car near Doara Pul in Bhagowal. They both died on the spot. The car driver fled.
Separately, Rescue officials said that 27 people were taken to Civil Hospital with injuries from road accidents in various areas of the city. Most of them, they said, were children.
In Muzaffargarh, at least three people were killed and five others injured when two motorcycles collided.
The accident occurred in Mehmood Kot near Ghulam Ali.
Rescue officials said that a motorcycle collided with the other when its driver apparently tried to avoid a collision with a passenger van driving in the opposite direction.
Passers-by rushed to the rescue. Three people, stuck in the wreck, died on the spot. Their bodies were pulled with help from residents of the area. The injured were taken to the district headquarters hospital, from where two of them were sent to Nishtar Hospital in Multan. Doctors treating them said their condition was critical.
At least 11 people were injured in Faisalabad when four vehicles collided near the SOS Village on Canal Road.
Rescue 1122 officials said a speedy car hit a rickshaw, which ran into a QingQi rickshaw, which in turn hit a motorcycle.
Eleven people were injured. They were identified as Noor Fatima, 1, Laila, 16, Yasmeen Bibi, 22, Sakina Bibi, 60, Robina Bibi, 35, Haleema Bibi, 60, Rabia Bibi, 22, Rukhsana Bibi, 28, Muhammad Aamir, 40, Sumaira Bibi, 30, and Muhammad Zulfiqar, 35.
Seven of the injured belong to the same family. They were on their way to Gattwala in the two rickshaws.
Five of them were given first aid on the spot. The rest were taken to the district headquarters hospital. They were reported to be out of danger.
