Irrigation water: Three killed, three injured in dispute

The incident occurred in village Ghulam Mustafa Laghari in Tando Allahyar district.

Three men of Laghari community were shot dead after two groups started fighting over sharing irrigation water in village Ghulam Mustafa Laghari in Tando Allahyar district.


The clash on Wednesday also left three people injured. According to SP Karamullah Soomro, the exchange of fire between the two groups continued for over an hour until the police and MPA Imdad Pitafi arrived at the village and assured people of action against the killers.

The SSP said that 11 suspects have been arrested. According to him, the district chairperson of the Zakat and Ushr committee, Ghulam Mustafa Laghari, his brothers and cousins were among the suspects being accused by the family. The deceased include Mujeeb Laghari, Ahsan Laghari and Noshad Laghari -- all farmers and cousins. The villagers also held a protest and shut down several towns in Chambarh taluka of the district.
