Nafisa Shah said that Salu was a gift of Zulfikar Ali Bhutto and admired the efforts of Dr Shah for the promotion of education and research at the institute.
The Sindh government gave us Rs266 million in aid, said Salu vice-chancellor Dr Parveen Shah, during an iftar dinner in the honour of MNA Dr Nafisa Shah and former MNA Syed Javed Ali Shah Jillani. Dr Parveen added that the association’s great services have taken the university to the rank of seventh best university in general category among public sector institutes.
Speaking as a chief guest, Dr Nafisa Shah said that Salu was a gift of Zulfikar Ali Bhutto and admired the efforts of Dr Shah for the promotion of education and research at the institute. She further proclaimed that university’s image entirely depended on its ranking. She was proud that Salu stood as seventh best in Pakistan. She further emphasised for the set-up of Centre of Excellence at Salu.
Dr Nafisa lauded Khairpur district’s efforts towards education as Mehran Engineering University had set up its Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto campus, Agriculture Engineering College and Liaquat University of Medical and Health Sciences’ branch Khairpur Medical College were separately set up. She pointed out the Thar Coal Development Authority as an important achievement of the present government, when it would become operative and solve energy problems to some extent.
Speaking as honorary chief guest, Syed Javed Ali Shah Jillani assured the university that its genuine needs will be met on priority, since it was their hometown university. He further praised the efforts of Qaim Ali Shah for making the district an ‘education hub’.
Mir Hassan Maitlo of Employees Welfare Association stated that university’s grievances were being met and resolved on a priority basis. The guests were presented with traditional Ajraks as souvenirs.

Shah Abdul Latif University (Salu), Khairpur, is a national institution a place of learning for the people of Kahirpur and the rest of us Pakistanis and was created from our national resources and is still financed from the people's money. It can be called and would truely be a personal gift of anyone including Z A Bhutto or the present Chief Minister of Sindh if they would give their personal wealth for this purpose. It's good that PM Zuklfiqar Ali Bhutto had the wisdom to use our money to create it and Qaim Ali Shah the wisdom to ensure its continuity with our resources. But, making it sound like SALU being a personal gift of anyone individual is great injustice as well as denial of a fact. Z A Bhutto did what a PM should have and what Qaim Ali Shah is doing what a Chief Minister must, no more no less.
