Undefeated, Pakistan qualifies for ICC Women’s World Twenty20

KARACHI: Pakistan qualified for the ICC Women's World Twenty20 final following a nine-wicket win over Ireland in the first semifinal at Dublin on Monday.

Pakistan dominated the semi-final from the beginning and bowled Ireland out on 65 runs in 19.5 overs - a target that Pakistan subsequently achieved within 14.1 overs.

Spurred with a four-wicket haul from Sadia Yousuf, Pakistan's bowled to keep Ireland's batting in check, with only Kim Garth who made 38 runs posing resistance.

Pakistan is now set to face either Sri Lanka or the Netherlands on Wednesday, depending upon the results of the second semifinal.

Having won all the the three group matches, the team has emerged unbeaten in the event.

Interim Chairman Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Najam Sethi congratulated Pakistan women's team on their victory.

“The manner in which the Pakistan team has performed, powering its way to the final with a slew of emphatic wins, deserves applause and plaudits," he said.

“I congratulate the captain Sana Mir and all members of the squad, hoping that they would continue to maintain such high standards," he added.
