Nightmare marriage: Woman seeks FIR against husband

LAHORE:

A judge has directed the Liaqatabad SHO to address the grievances of a woman who wants an FIR against her husband for assault, threats, abetting rape and forcing her into prostitution.

The petitioner said that her husband of a few years had begged her to work as a prostitute because he didn’t have a job and they needed money, but she had refused. Then one day he tricked her into visiting a friend's house, where she was served drugged tea. When she came to, she said, she was being raped by two men.

The petitioner said that on July 13, when her husband again asked her to prostitute herself and she refused, he beat her black and blue. She fled to her parents’ home and applied for a divorce. Her husband then threatened to kill her if she did not withdraw her divorce suit in a family court, she said. She said the Liaqatabad SHO, had refused to register a case.
