Drones and international law

Letter July 24, 2013
When you are standing trial, you do not want the law to be fair. You want it to benefit your case.

TEXAS, US: This is with reference to Neha Ansari’s article “Drones not a violation of our sovereignty” (July 24). Laws can be amended and interpreted to serve national security. When you are standing trial, you do not want the law to be fair. You want it to benefit your case. That is how the US sees it and that is how all responsible governments approach it. The desired outcome is not justice, it is victory.
