A kidnapping plot was foiled by the Jacobabad police on Tuesday morning at Muhabat Laro.

SSP Jacobabad Malik Zafar Iqbal said that two irrigation department employees, Zafarullah Mahar and Mureed Katpar, and their friend, Gul Beg Mirani, were travelling in a car on their way to Balochistan from Rohri when four armed bandits riding on motorcycles intercepted them in the Shikarpur city limits.

When the car reached Muhabat Laro, hostage Mureed Katpar jumped out of the moving car and informed the police who chased the kidnappers. During an exchange of fire, a bandit, Ali Ahmed Brohi, was killed while the other robber, Ali Hassan Brohi, escaped. A police team raided village Mirza Brohi and arrested Ali Hassan Brohi’s father and brother. The police have reportedly recovered a Kalashnikov rifle and a double barrel gun from the robbers. The recovered Kalashnikov rifle belongs to the police and was snatched from the police in Shikarpur district 15 days ago, said the SSP.
