Power Pylons Bombed: Massive power failure hits Balochistan

QUETTA: Seventeen districts of Balochistan were plunged into darkness on Thursday night when terrorists blew up transmission lines in the Bibi Nani area of Bolan’s Mach district. According to sources in Balochistan Levies, explosives were planted at four power pylons of two main transmission lines. As a result of the explosion, one of the pylons was destroyed while the other three were damaged. Speaking to The Express Tribune, Quetta Electric Supply Corporation (QESCO) spokesman Mohammad Afzal said saboteurs targeted four power pylons, two of 220 kilowatts and two of 132 kilowatts. “Electricity supply to 17 districts of Balochistan, including Quetta, is suspended as a result of the attack,” he added. The spokesman said that at present Qesco was supplying electricity to Quetta from the alternative Habibullah Coastal Power House and Shaikhmanda Thermal units.
