Delegation to leave for Kenya tomorrow

Delegation to head to Kenya to resolve issues being faced by rice exporters at Kenyan ports for the last two months.

KARACHI: A seven-member delegation from the Rice Exporters Association of Pakistan (Reap) will head to Kenya on October 4 to resolve the pressing issues being faced by rice exporters at Kenyan ports for the last couple of months.

Several complaints have been received from Pakistani rice exporters and importers in Kenya that port authorities are not releasing rice containers despite the fulfillment of all formalities.

The delays caused by the Kenya Revenue Authority are resulting in extra charges being added up by the Port Authority, the Container Freight Stations and the shipping lines on account of demurrage.

According to a press release issued by Reap on Saturday, the delegation will hold meetings with the Kenyan authorities concerned.
