In the family: Accused deny involvement in murder of IG’s daughter-in-law

The deceased’s brother and sister-in-law were arrested after her mother filed a complaint.

The couple arrested on Thursday on suspicion of murdering Wahida, IG Islamabad Bani Amin’s daughter-in-law, on Saturday denied their involvement in front of the court after the end of a two-day remand.

Wahida’s brother Khalid Khan and sister-in-law Fouzia had been arrested after Chief Justice of Pakistan Iftikhar Chaudhry took suo motu notice of the case. On Saturday, the investigation officer told the court Wahida was the daughter-in-law of IG Islamabad Bani Amin and had married his son Ali Yameen a few years ago.

Wahida was visiting her parent’s house in University Town Peshawar with her two children, when she left for her brother’s house on May 18 after dinner. However, she was found dead at her brother’s residence on the morning of May 19.



The investigation officer added relatives including IG Amin reached the site upon receiving news of her death, and the police shifted the body for autopsy. The autopsy report revealed the cause of death to be suffocation.

The police registered an FIR against the deceased’s father Darya Khan, her brother Khalid Khan and sister-in-law Fouzia on the complaint of her mother Zahida and made arrests following suo motu notice taken by the court.

The accused, Khalid and Fouzia, were produced in the court of judicial magistrate Nasrullah to obtain physical remand. When they denied any involvement in the death of Wahida in front of the judicial magistrate on Saturday, they were sent to jail on a further 14-day judicial remand.
