ENERGY: ‘Hydel plants capacity to be enhanced’

The meeting decided that steps would be taken for enhancing the capacity of hydel power stations.

LAHORE: Minister for Irrigation Yawar Zaman on Friday said that more hydel projects should be started so that load shedding could be eliminated from the country.

He was presiding over a meeting on the capacity of hydel power stations.

The meeting decided that steps would be taken for enhancing the capacity of hydel power stations.

A technical committee consisting of senior officers of Irrigation Department and WAPDA was constituted to submit recommendations in this regard.

Zaman said the recommendations would be implemented in letter and spirit.

WAPDA Chairman Raghib Abbas assured full cooperation for enhancing the capacity of hydel power stations so that cheap electricity could be generated.

He said that WAPDA would provide technical assistance for all energy generation projects.
