The Rabita Committee's reaction came after the British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) aired a documentary on MQM chief Altaf Hussain, his alleged use of threatening language in public speeches, a purported letter which offers services to the UK intelligence agencies and seizing of large sums of money from the MQM office in Edgware and Altaf's house.
Siddique said that ‘foreign media’ had shown irresponsible behavior by releasing a dubious documentary on the MQM, and that the Rabita Committee still had full confidence in Altaf’s leadership.
"The BBC showed clips of some parts of Altaf Hussain's speeches out of context. We condemn this."
He said that the false propaganda had only managed to increase their confidence in the MQM chief as their leader, and that their ties with the party's founder could not be disrupted through such means.
In a press conference, leaders of the MQM Raabta Committee said that they held the right for peaceful protest.
Earlier today, London Metropolitan Police said that an investigation is being carried out against Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) chief Altaf Hussain on charges of money laundering and provocation to torture.
Note: A BBC Online exclusive story on Altaf Hussain cases by Owen Benett Jones to appear shortly.

@arzal ahmed: Leave it to the MQM supporters to make everything racist. It's about time we all learned to accept one another and be united instead of being hateful. We have been blessed with a country that is so diverse and rich in culture, language and foods. Why can't we all just embrace our differences instead of bad mouthing the sindhis, the punjabis, the balochis, the muhajirs or whoever. We are suppose to be one country! This can not be a "conspiracy" if there is any truth to it. The money was fabricated in AH's house...the MQM has admitted to money being found in the house. AH did deliver hate speech, any competent lawyer can tell you it's a clear violation of British law. So what is this conspiracy that MQM talks of?
MQM is a terrorist organisation and everybody including Mohajirs know this. There has been a concentrated effort on the usurpation of the native people's rights.i.e Sindhis by the so called Mohajirs, helped by Punjabis and Pathans. The only oppressed nations in Pakistan are Sindhis and Balochs, rest of them are paying the price what they sown.
@Ahmed: By taking into account of the media and political campaign initiated and consistantly pursued by the gandg of thugs Imran Khan,Lord Nazir and George Galloway and their well connected source in the british media and and politics, to pursued one sided anti MQM propagand in british media to exploit their politial agenda (anti Altaf Hussain) was the reason to mention the conpiracy factor rather than legal one. And Imran khan attending a royal gathering and the release photos that made public of Imran Khan with the british royality, and keeping in view the obsession of a common britihs and their media it was a deliberate attempt to indirectly influencing the british media at the time of releas of BBC documentary. Imran Khan was not there simply for photo session, rather in a very well planned and well thought media campaign he was there to to be a man in right place at the right time. And after the release of BBC documentary the subsquent propaganda by Lord Nazir in brith/pakitani media and british parliment is enough to prove that this not just the case of simple legal proceedings but rather more well planned/thought political agenda of Imran Khan (by his mental calibre he is that sophisticated enough to plan that alone) but the political forces who see this as an opportunity to snatch back urban sindh from MQM to the folds of punjab dominated political forces. Guess who.
no doubt its 10000% conspiracy against mqm and altaf hussain to make him defame amoung the peoples of pakistan because he is the only leader in pakistan who works for a common men not for his family
RC where is your stalwart raza haroon? who has targeted him? ain't you concerned about him??
Yeah Right ......
@Pro Pakistani: day of rejoicing for the rest of Pakistan is near....
Altaf was right........... His titanic is sinking ......... Karachi will become the city of lights again
Traitors...Shame on you MQM.
Why Pakistanis are always ready to burn their country for every little thing that happens in the outside world. The investigation is being done and so far Mr Hussain has not been charged. Why dont his followers wait for the investigation to complete?
@Falcon: play ball not people
MQM believes in the fact that lie so much that people start taking your lies for truth. The whole world is lying but MQM is speaking the truth. Shameless they are and shameless are the people protecting such people.
Conspiracy? Yeah right! These guys just crack me up. I think some television channel should have a reality show on MQM- Pakistani sopranos.
ORGANISED CONSPIRAC...hahahahahahahaha........................................
@Aysha M @ RT @ RK
So just a few weeks ago they were going to accept the findings of the investigation and court decisions if it comes to that, but now as the name of Altaf Hussain is being mentioned more and more on 2 separate accounts... they have already launched a conspiracy theory. Damage control but not for too long. Remember, Mr Hussain is also one of theirs; a British citizen.
Also, blind support by the likes of @Aysha M and @RT here only makes a mockery of your stance. Trust me, it backfires. Some of the comments by the former are actually almost to the point of being funny.
@RK: Are you seriously giving someone else the advice to "improve" their "intellect". Anti-MQM phobia is a double negative. It's either Anti-MQM or MQM phobia. Anti-MQM phobia would actually mean being afraid of someone/something that is against MQM. Maybe you should use your own advice and " use some depth of thinking to read, absorb, and understand".
Pakistan was 1,000 times better before MQM and it will be 10,000 times much better after the MQM.
@Qureshi... Please stop these hate nonsence against Karachi.. Altaf Hussain is a British national so he be treated as them, Musharaf and Haqani both are prosicuted in Pak and Britian/USA protect the, 1 living in USA other have properties in London ...
i have never seen more brainwashed SUPPORTERS! how can MQM supporters still defend him in the 21st century! all his lies all his statements,U-turns & politics of terror! seriously no normal human can defend such a man!
Why are the British waking up today, after all these years ??
@RT: lol.. seriously?
I am an MQM supporter. I understand all the biased treatment that MQM recieves and the good work they have done for Karachi when had proper power (2002-2007). HAVING SAID THAT, I have felt for years now that an honest and capable leadership of MQM is sufficient to replace Altaf Hussain. In the light of recent events, Altaf Hussain should resign on moral grounds (even if he is innocent in this matter): this would be for MQM's betterment - his irresponsible statements are not helping the party. Moreover, an organized political party, such as MQM, should not rely on a one-man show but should let other leaders evolve to take upper places. MQM has many such leaders, who can effectively take over the chief's place.
BBC must be funded by the Taliban, or else they would've never accused a saint like Altaf Hussain.
I think Altaf Hussain should be replaced until he proves innocence.
He can get 10 years for money laundering and passport revoked for Hate Speech! So in UK's jail as Pakistani citizen. Do we have prisoners transfer agreement with UK govt?
@Shahid: Very mature comment. Seems to be missing in most others. Agree with you.
@Falcon: "You and Aysha M must be a part of the MQM social media team. Only that can explain the nature of the comments"
I am not. On the contrary, you need to improve your intellect, so you can use some depth of thinking to read, absorb, and understand what is being said, rather than focusing on 'who' is wrting it. Get over the anti-MQM phoebia.
An expected statement!
How long MQM Raabita Committee will defend the actions of Mr. Altaf Hussain and his party workers?
Every body knows what would be the end of investigations of Scotland Yard Police.
There is always a last day for every one in this world.
When Founder of the Nation Mr. Mohammad Ali Jinnah who created Pakistan cannot live in this world, who else can live in this world indefinitely?
Every one knows this as well that it is not the same Karachi which use to be Karachi and was called as "City Of Lights" once upon a time and before APMSO was formed and then later it became MQM.
For God's sake, just give me a brake.
What now? Is the western world not recognizing your rights as a Mohajir? The problem with MQM is, that these guys will always remain mohajirs, as this was a temporary word used in the history of time, but now has become a permanent abode for these miscreants.
If altaf bhai is being framed then i haven't seen a bigger crime in my life.yet! Giggles
Poor Altaf Hussain, always picked on as a child, least loved of all his brothers and sisters and now the world hates him too. sad indeed
Farook sattar's argument was so impressive and logical (satire intended)
Day of Mourning Coming Up...!!!
How innocent!!!
@RT: You and Aysha M must be a part of the MQM social media team. Only that can explain the nature of the comments
We should watch patiently which way this episode will end. If Altag Hussain found guilty of Involvement in Imran Farooq case in any way, my recommendation is that it should be the end of Altaf hussain and MQM leadership should immmediately annonce ceasing any relationship with him and nothing to do with him in future. Money laundering every pakistani leader has done that. Inciting for violence is a bogus accusation
LOL!!
Is this the same Britain (and so called West) who the Pakistanis always accuse of conspiracy against the Muslim World. Wow, now the so called Pakistani media and civil society is in such high regards for their investigation. By the way, there are atleast 15 militant organizations in Pakistan who the Pakistani people patronize which Britain is against. Will the Pakistani nation also agree to Britain in that too? Or do we have a pick and choose policy which is based on ethnicity. Why is Musharraf, Altaf Hussain, and Hussain Haqqani treators while Nawaz, Zardari, Ayub, Zia ul Haq and all their collabrators held in high esteem. Stop doing to Karachites what you did to East Pakistan.
Altaf Hussain being targeted through organised conspiracy: Rabita Committee oh please!
BBC's programme was poorly done, filled with unsubstantiated claims and sensationalization attempts. This documentary's biggest failure is that they did not even briefly talk about the mass murder (approximately 15000 activists), torture and state oppression that MQM went through. The anchor was quick to mention that MQM is feared in Pakistan but held back from saying it is also the same MQM that has gone through and still goes through huge amounts of propaganda. Mentioning all of this was extremely relevant, considering MQM's history.
Furthermore, in all fariness of this documentary's assessment:
-The clips of Altaf Hussain's statements that BBC is showing actually do seem to be 'out of context', since they are not showing the series of statements before or after those sentences in question.
-They have not been able to justify their attempt to show MQM as an organized perpetrator of violence since it relies on statements from a so-called former MQM man. His statements do not look credible and could, for the sake of argument, be more out of his personal enemity rather againtst MQM than anything else. Additionally, they are mentioning statements from a police officer in asylum, who again cannot be subtantiated, since he is not shown on tv. Another thing they is that 2 British MPs, critical of MQM, say or imply that they would not like to go to Karachi out of fear of getting killed.
-The second half of the series shows Farooq Sattar in the studio debating the anchor. He accused BBC of being under the wrong influence first but then seemed to have done a good job of defending MQM.
MQM and it's supporters are shameless beyond imagination, they try to defend that can't and should not be defended
Sure buddy...........
Yes, 'ofcourse' London Police is in cahoots with the taliban and alqaeda. Otherwise Altaf bhai never gave incendiary statements or had undeclared money stashed in his house.
