A man on Tuesday chopped off his pregnant daughter-in-law’s nose and hair and caused several wounds to her arms and legs, police and witnesses said.
Riasat Ali, a neighbour, said Bashir Ahmad, 50, had tried to rape his pregnant daughter-in-law Atiyya Bibi. He saw Bashir attack Attiya from the roof of his house. He said several people were attracted by her shouting and tried to stop Bashir who managed to flee from the scene.
Rescue 1122 officials were called and took the injured woman to Allied Hospital.
Dr Ghulam Rasool of the emergency ward said that the victim was badly injured in the attack and her arms, legs and face bore serious wounds.
Mansoorabad SHO said, “The police have not received a formal complaint.
We can only take action after receipt of a complaint and the medical examination report.”

I never understood lack of police intervention in crimes like these.
Fortunately in my juristition the police don't need cooperation from the victim to proceed with domestic violence charges. If there is enough cause, charges can be filed.sadly places like this need a cultural overhaul with treatment towards women. If even a pregnant woman isn't safe from rape who is?
Women are not property subjected to the sexual whim of any man that deem it ok to rape her just to prove his dominance, or for whatever other reason he chooses to rape.
@Freedom: you can make the laws....but the culture needs to change....and the hearts of men....and that is the much harder job and may take several generations to achieve....right now they are reinforcing the evil of Islam...going ever backwards
Ya Allah save us all from such doing that is worst then animal
@Freedom i understand, but an eye for an eye will make the whole world blind. Let us make sure that the man is put behind bar for the rest of his life ( or lawfully hanged ). And lets also make sure that he gets a fair trial. Lets not be emotional ! Cutting his private parts in public view will make society more sick.
We need to make sure that courts do their job fast. Any other option will be temporary and fail in the long run!
@priyank: My friend, I'm sick of reading about women being mutilated by acid burns, cuts and cases of gang rapes which are never punished because of mullah or society. It's high time such crimes are punished with fitting punishments so people think twice before engaging in any such act. I'm proposing it keeping in mind where Pakistani society is presently at which is 'dark ages'. Mob justice has lately become the norm here rather than the exception. Education will not help prospective victims in the immediate future. Taliban style punishments are needed for such animals. I'm hardly any Taliban supporter, I would be killed first for proposing legalized prostitution or legalization of premarital sex to take the government/police out of people's bedrooms. :-)
Bashir ahmed 50, as it turns out...belong to Pti.
@Freedom you sound like taliban. Thats not the way ! Inhumanity for inhumanity will lead us nowhere!
We truly need drone strikes in Punjab! I think the dometic abuse stories coming out of Punjab are totally sickening. We need to pour acid on acid throwers, inflict the same wounds on these nose cutters, perhaps even chop off their private parts and do all this in public so everyone sees the punishment. That's the only way to stop these crimes. The stupid court cases that last for 20 years are not worthy of time and effort spent to get justice. Plus such heinous crimes call for equally horrifying punishments!
@A. Khan your answer is in your question ie 'sick freak'
What sick freak does this sort of thing.
