Local residents started throwing stones at the alleged suspects who were astride a motorbike, causing one of the suspects to fall. The other suspect managed to flee.
The residents went on to attack the alleged suspect with full force while the police officials tried to free him from the mob.
DSP Qasim Ghauri said the attacked suspect will be investigated after he is treated in the hospital, claiming that his condition is critical.
"Efforts will be made to arrest other people involved," said the police official.
"The suspect is in a daze and not in his senses," said Express News correspondent Naeem Khanzada.
The explosion occurred near a snooker club where children were gathered.
The injured were shifted to Jinnah hospital for treatment.

Hope you guys know why the Police had to hurriedly free him from the mob and take him away.
Basically he was secured from leaking any information regarding which Jail Warden released him for the task of terrorism (in this case hurling explosives) - and what was the money that the police got to allow this incident to take place.
A friend of mine once shot the robber on the rear of an escaping pair who had just snatched mobile phones from his shop. The person on the back fell off the bike injured. As soon as the Police arrived, they shot him dead. Guess why - cuz the suspect might have given evidence that Police is behind 98% of the crimes taking place in Karachi and the rest of Pakistan. If it weren't for the corrupt Police officials in Pakistan, the terrorism and robberies would have never gotten out of control the way it has now.
People of the area has done a wonderful job. Soon Court will release him for want of evidence despite the complaint of poor and innocent people. That is why I have no sympathy with injured Judge but feeling bad for the families of Rangers and Police men who laid their lives unnecessarily to safe guard the Judge.
The authorities have left the people no choice but to take things in their own hands, which will eventually lead to anarchy.
Nurse him back to health and then start pulling his nails until he talks. Then go after his higher ups and mercilessly crush them. That's how this scum needs to be dealt with.
