Courts Closed: Lawyers mourn death of former colleague

Naushehro Feroz Bar Association president, Abbasi, passed away after a heart surgery.

KARACHI: The lawyers’ community of Karachi stayed away from courts as a mark of respect for the former Sindh Bar Council (SBC) member, Ghulam Muhammad Abbasi, who passed away on Sunday.

The former SBC vice chairperson and Naushehro Feroz Bar Association president, Abbasi, passed away after a heart surgery, said a member of the SBC, Mahmoodul Hassan.

He added that the judicial work remained suspended across the city to mourn the loss describing the deceased, Abbasi, as a committed member of the bar council.

No legal proceedings took place at the city courts and Malir district courts following the news of Abbasi’s demise.

Prisoners, as well as their families, suffered as thousands of cases were put off.
