LAHORE:
The All Pakistan Muslim League (APML) ruled out the possibility of a clandestine deal to free former president Pervez Musharraf on Thursday, arguing that it would not compromise the party’s political future over the issue, its senior leader Chaudhry Sarfraz Anjum Kahlon said.
Kahlon, a political adviser to Musharraf, said that the APML had decided in principle to get the court to release its top leader and preempt other forces from intervening in the due process. The courts, according to Kahlon, are independent and will give a fair trial.
Already, he said, the party had devised a strategy regarding the cases. This strategy will soon prove fruitful in securing the honourable release of the party’s chief from house arrest.
He warned that his party would not bow before anyone and would face the courts to prove the party chief’s innocence, as that was the only rightful way.
He added that many influential people had approached the former dictator upon his arrival, and had also requested him to avoid returning to Pakistan, but Musharraf, who is a patriotic Pakistani having served the military for thirty odd years, decided to come back and serve the people.
Kahlon also said that it was unfortunate that Musharraf was not allowed to contest the polls.
However, he added that the former president was determined to serve the people. He also revealed that at the moment many forces had approached to provide Musharraf a safe passage abroad but the latter had decided to face the courts.

General(r) Musharraf has very few wise and nice people I think that guy ch. sarfraz kahloon is one of them.his statement is so pure and is as suit to army man.nobody in Pakistan can trial Musharraf because they know he was the strongest army person and he proved again as a retired man when he came back to Pakistan.
@bash gul: Indeed! Please add Hamid Gul to the list!
Musharraf Bhai has no case. On 3rd November 2007, he shred the Consitution of Pakistan to pieces. How dare he take away our fundamental rights? Article 6 applies to him.I look forward to his trial, conviction, and punishment.
My Bhaijan (Im born in Dec 1943 and Gen Musharraf is born in Aug 1943) is the truest leader of all who ruled us otherwise the rest were more for self than the country. Alas! few of us tried to condemn him though he deserves appreciation and not condemnation. Iqbal Hadi Zaidi / Kuwait / iqbalhadizaidi.formerdiplomat@hotmail.com
what about Ayub Khan, Yahya Khan, Zia ul Haq, they should also have be tried.
@AliKuliKhan:
pray do tell, mr senior advocate, how the takeover is deemed illegal and unconstitutonal when validated by an act of parliament and the SC (of which our dear CJ was also a part then)? who goes to the gallows? keep your political nonsense to yourself. the reality is that musharrafs actions and time in power were given legal cover several times (see zafar ali shah case). his time in power was legal and justified and constitutional.
Musharraf should have stayed away. What fair trial is he expecting from the courts. His take- over was unconstitutional. The validation of his take-over by the supreme court was unconstitutional and illegal. Validation by the parliament of his actions was unconstitutional and illegal.Hence all his actions while in power were unconstitutional and illegal. His only hope is the support from the army and, judiciary taking a lenient view because of the embarrassment it will face for condoning and supporting a military take-over. My advise to him will be to cut his losses and leave.
Long live Pervez Musharraf. The man is a true patriot that our selfish and soulless media maligned because they were handsomely paid by external forces to say all sorts of nonsense against this true Patriot.
"arguing that it would not compromise the party’s political future over the issue"
What party?
Unprecedented leader.... Our prayers and support are with him forever....
Good. This is the correct and most effective approach.
