ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) and Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) lawmakers observed separate walkouts from the National Assembly on Saturday.

Speaking on a point of order, PTI deputy parliamentary leader Makhdoom Shah Mahmood Qureshi said that Finance Minister Ishaq Dar should respond as to why the parliament was being undermined by officials of the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR).

He asked how the FBR was taxing people with increased General Sales Tax (GST) since the finance bill had not been passed by parliament.

Qureshi later staged a token walkout from the house along with the other PTI legislators.

Lawmakers of JI also staged a walkout from the house against what they referred to as the withdrawal of the relief package for the people of Malakand division.

Sahibzada Tariqullah of JI said that the relief package for the people of Malakand had been withdrawn by the federal government, which he said his party would oppose.

He then announced a token walkout to protest against the government's decision.

Lawmakers of both parties later returned to the house.

PMLN has walked out more than once during the previous term. It was a token walk out by which parties walk out and then come back after a few minutes. symbolic protest registered. After that they get back to work.
