Joining hands: Candidates from Bara vow to restore peace

Afridi they rejected the re-election scheme in Jamrud because the area was not suitable for holding election.

Election candidates and the civil society of Bara, Khyber Agency on Tuesday vowed to extend unconditional support to the government to restore everlasting peace in the restive region, claiming foreign hands were responsible for creating instability.

Addressing a news conference at the Peshawar Press Club, President of United Candidate Council Bara Munsif Ali Khan Afridi said the candidate from NA-46 should be elected the basis of the voter list issued by the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP).

“There is a difference of 94,000 registered voters in the list issued to the candidates and the list of the Election Commission of Pakistan. Thus, candidates are polling illegal votes,” claimed Munsif.

He said they rejected the re-election scheme in Jamrud subdivision because the area was not suitable for holding elections, adding they wanted to hold re-polling in settled areas of Peshawar to ensure all internally displaced persons took part in the electoral process.

“The ECP should make the revised list of registered voters on the basis of tribes because the previous one had a lot of mistakes. New polling staff should be hired for re-polling because previous staff members were not partial in their duties,” he alleged.
