Engineer Shaukatullah, Governor of K-P administered the oath.
Khattak had been nominated by Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan. The political party, which won 17 provincial seats in K-P according to unofficial results said that it is ready to talk with any political party on the possibility of forming a coalition government except for the Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F).
In a press conference, Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) said it has agreed to form a coalition government with the PTI in the province.

For once in your life ... Be Optimistic Pakistanio ... atleast in KP ... Nowshera have given all 07 seats to PTI ...
@Sajid, ATD: Well that is what he said in his first press conference ....
Friends, what i believe in current circumstances Pervez Khattak is best option... One cannot prove that he is corrupt ... he has quite a political background ... his cousin remain CM NWFP in Bhutto regime ... He is well educated and he never ever lost his seat due to level of works he had done in his constituency ... NA5 and PK13 are very tough constituencies in terms of his opponents but he succeeded ... secondly he joined PTI in start of 2012 by giving resign from Irrigation Minister KPK ... In current joint govt we need a mature politician ... He remain classfellow of Imran in Aitchison ... Asad Qaiser dont have such political maturity to lead toughest govt of KPK (I BET ... ) ... Let him work under the supervision of Imran Khan ... Mind you this decision was done and will be owned by Imran Khan. I have trust on my jaan ... Imran Khan regds. PTI Janisar from Nowshera
What I believe from previous statements of Imran Niazi; is, CM house will be demolished and public library will be managed at first instance.
@Rule of Law:
"Imran Khan is too hungry to form a government in KPK despite that he has no majority, but larger minority of 30%. Majority starts at 50% for which he is indulging in horse trading. This is so called “change” :)"
Pakistan is not mature enough to let form a minority government, as happens in many western democracies, where largest party makes government, even if it does not have simple majority. Second option is to change the electoral system and conduct a second round of 2 top candidates if no one gets 50% of the votes in a constituency. That can actually benefit Imran a lot in KP and all over Pakistan, where he is second in many constituencies.
However in prevalent system, he has made alliance with JI which was not part of the mess we called previous government.
Pervez Khattak will have no good impression . Asad Qaiser shoul be the CM as he is provincial president too .
@anam 'naya' word is for new governance. hope they will make a model province. They have to serve in this province, if they want to rule the country and Definitely they have to perform better then Punjab.
PTI should have choosen a new face for CM KPK to put the 'naya pakistan' claim in action. This guy has been associated with other parties before, and he is not 'naya'. PTI has started letting down people already
@M@ni: I may be bashed for this but anyways here goes, I THINK the reason why PTI avoided an adjustment with JI was that IK didn't want to upset his liberal "inqalabiz" who despise JI because of their stance on several issues related to women.
Hope PTI will be able to perform well on KP.
I wish all the best to the the newly elected Pervez Khattak.
35 seats.
Thumbs up Pti...now u need to prove that ur governance will b better than other parties...take it as an opportunity...
Well done IK!! You are moving with some alacrity!
All eyes on the KHAN and if he delivers in NWFP than INSHALLAH you are looking at the future PRIME MINISTER OF PAKISTAN :)
PTI won 34 provincial seats of KPK ... not 17.
and the government formation is now confirmed
PTI + JI + independents
This is a very bad start for the PTI. Pervaiz Khattak is known as one of the most corrupt politicians in KP who has changed loyalties more times than he has shirts. His latest turncoat behavior was being a staunch Sherpao follower being elected to the assembly on QWP ticket in 2008 and then splitting to join PPP within a few weeks while remaining a QWP MPA.
PTI has come in with a mandate for change by the people of KP. For them to have a turncoat corrupt politician as Chief Minister would truly be a disappointment.
IK need to keep an eye on this guy as he moved from PPP to PPP-sherpao and now PTI.
