Rahim had announced that he would quit after the Zimbabwe tour, post his side’s loss in the third One-Day International (ODI) on May 8. However, following his team’s 34-run victory over the hosts in the second Twenty20, the 24-year-old admitted the decision was a hasty one.
“After resigning, I have realised that I should have discussed the matter with the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB), who have made me the captain,” said Mushfiqur, according to ESPNcricinfo. “It was my mistake. People from the BCB have told me that we will hold discussions when I am back.
“I have taken the decision emotionally. It was a wrong decision on my part. No player should back out in such a time. I should have been encouraging everyone, but I ended up doing just the opposite.”
