Based on unofficial results of total vote count as of May 12, 1pm, the PML-N leads by almost two thirds more votes than its closest competitor, the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI).

@furqan: I agree. No one should be above the law and constitution wherever in the world they are and whatever religion or ethnicity they belong to. Governments are supposed to administer and not to appease some religio-politico-socio-sentiments.

@Aviator: PTI supporters should also remember that two status quo parties started their careers as dictators' stooges, ZAB as Secretary of Conventional Muslim League headed by Ayub Khan and NS as Minister under General Jilani.

@Rashid! The mentioned 3,633,060 votes figure for PTI, is based on unofficial results of total vote count as of 12 May 2013, 1 PM. Obviously the PTI votes figure increased with the time, as more results were announced later on. As the PTI leadership claimed 1 Crore votes for party in Election 2013 in the end.
Congrats to PML-N on landslide victory in Center and Punjab :) It fared well in Balochistan and KPK as well. Hope that Nawaz Sharif and Shahbaz Sharif will serve Pakistan more.

@Nair: PTI didn't win many seats in Punjab because of the electoral system but the number of voters for the PTI is highest in Punjab. PML-N is the third and second biggest party in KP and Baluchistan respectively (leaving aside independents) so well represented in 3 provinces with allies in the third. PPP bungled Punjab completely because of their incompetence and they lost their urban supporters. They may be back in the future but they cannot resemble their former glory. After all it was voters in Punjab that brought Bhutto to power in the 70's. MQM is a special case. They are a combination of a corporation/militia/ethno-politico entity. They work through different principles than other political parties and have different political processes (which might not include elections). Pakistan will change the political landscape again at the next election. Pakistanis now feel they have the power to change through elections. This is thanks to PTI...if you support them or not.

Do not give them a chance to make mistakes and blunders . noone is angle in this world where our leadership make mistake point it doest matter they like it or not . 20 years of my life i never said yes on wrong doings of my leadership . i stood up against them in party where every they were wrong . i m axpecting same from all of you who supported PML(n).
@kamil: If you ever asked me, MQM is the only true political party that can take Pakistan to the next century; they may have a socialist view point but they stand for their cause even in a losing cause. That is called ideological prudence. Of course, this is an Indian point of view and it can be contested. But you could also take it as a neutral point of view.

For those who has so much pain for votes MQM candidates got Plz answer a simple question In NA 125 more than 200,000 votes polled Saad Rafiq got 120,000 Hamid khan 81000 plus rejected votes and votes other parties got. If votes MQM got is illogical how that happened in lahore? Secondly the votes were not polled in ONE booth there were hundreds of polling Stations in one constituency with 2 or more polling booths. MQM haters and bashers don't go blind in MQM hate try to be reasonable and logical. Thank you
My being from India, I must appreciate the prudence with which Tribune is moderating comments. Given the freedom of press and freedom of expression is high in India, these are days when I sadly see the freedom given by the constitution being misused in some news paper sites. My heart felt congratulations to Tribune for keeping the standards of journalism high, just like in India we have high standard papers too like The Hindu for example. In a situation where the two neighboring countries have restless relationship between them, it is important that good prudence is maintained by Journalists and News Papers to ensure that hatred is not spread at any cost. And in that context, The Hindu of India (also to a large extent Indian Express, Deccan Herald and Hindustan Times) and The Tribune of Pakistan must be appreciated. Thank you. An impressive second for PTI. Supporters of PTI should remember that you cannot, and should not, expect to become leader of a nation after your first major participation on an election. It takes many election cycles, but to come second this time is impressive.
IK should prove to Pakistan that he is an effective politician, by governing KP effectively.
If he improves the lives of people of KP, and proved to people in the rest of the country, especially the rural poor, then at the next elections he may very well become the next PM
The data reveals that except in Punjab PML-N has come a cropper. PTI seems more acceptable in KP and MQM has only Sindh supporting them. Since Punjab has the largest number of seats, this province alone determines the fate of elections in Pakistan. The moods of rest of Pakistan may not count at all in the end analysis?
