KARACHI: The Sindh government has announced that all public and private schools and colleges will be closed from May 9 till May 12.

Some public universities will also be closed during this period, said the additional secretary of the education department, Shafiq Mahesar.

The chairperson of the All Private Schools Management Association, Syed Khalid Shah, felt that the government should have issued the notification three days ago.

“If it was issued earlier, schools would have been able to release circulars announcing the holidays and there wouldn’t have been any confusion,” said Shah. “Some private schools have decided to remain closed till May 13 to stay on the safe side.”

Separately, Sindh High Court chief justice Mushir Alam has ordered that the subordinate courts across the province will remain closed for judicial proceedings on May 10.
