LAHORE: All educational institutions in Punjab and Sindh will remain closed from May 8 to May 13, Express News reported on Monday.
The six-day long holiday was announced due to the upcoming elections.
On May 11, Pakistan will vote for a new government in the centre and the four provinces.
Tough security measures have been implemented across the country to facilitate free and fair elections.
Many political parties have come under terror attacks since the election date was announced, with leaders blaming terrorists of targeting only the left-wing parties.

Oh, I guess its okay, students dont need school for 6 days anyway.
So there will be no A level exams taking place?
so there will be no A level exams from 8 to 13 May???
but i guess there is still confusion among people regarding holidays...is is confirmed 8 to 13..? although its a good decision..
elections are once in 5 years event which will decide about our future so why not declare a holiday for everyone (excluding election staff) so that people living outstations can go back to their electoral areas and might cast their votes.
how about CIE exams?
how about CIE exams.....will they be conducted or not?
@kaleem 11th is an official weekend dude . you want to deprive us of that too ? and probably everyone puts family's safety first . It is good decision to give off to students . Highly risky days ahead .Also ECP has to make arrangements for polling in schools / education institutes .
Ideally, there was no need for an off even on 11th may, see what happens in europe and US. Change will not come in a wave, it has to come in bits and pieces.
Whats about offices?
