Eni Pakistan in partnership with Pakistan Petroleum Limited and Kuwait Foreign Petroleum Exploration Company (Kufpec) has made a new discovery of gas reserves in Kirthar Foldbelt, Sukhpur.
The director general petroleum concessions, in a meeting with Petroleum and Natural Resources Minister Sohail Wajahat H Siddiqui, said Eni found the gas in Lundali-I well located in Sukhpur block, 270 km north of Karachi, says a press release. Lundali-I is a 2,660 metres deep well.
During test runs, gas flowed at 33 million cubic feet per day, highlighting excellent potential to help ease the shortage of energy in the country. The discovery will be assessed and commercialised through an early production scheme, making gas supply possible within three years.
Praising the efforts of Eni Pakistan and its partners, the petroleum minister said “the fresh discovery is good news for the nation and the energy sector.”
He stressed that discovery of new oil and gas reserves were vital to cope with the prevailing energy shortage in the country and expressed the hope that the new find would help meet substantial energy demand of the country.

Plz don't use hydraulic fracturing technique in exploration, it will not only damage the reserve site but will create environment problems.
