Two advocates killed in Karachi, lawyers announce strike

Sindh Bar Council announces strikes in upper and lower courts tomorrow.

KARACHI: Two advocates were shot dead by unknown assailants on the busy Jinnah Bridge within the limits of Baghdadi Police Station, reported Express News on Friday.

Advocate Ali Ahmed Jan and his son, advocate Shakil Ahmed Jan were travelling to the Sindh High court when two unknown assailants on a motorbike opened fire on their vehicle. The firing killed advocate Shakil Ahmed Jan on the spot.

The father Ali Ahmed Jan, was critically injured in the incident and was shifted to Jinnah hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.

Angered lawyers halted all hearings at the Sindh High court and other city courts after the incident took place.

The Sindh Bar Council has announced a strike to be held tomorrow in both the higher and lower courts to protest the killing of the two advocates.
