Stringent security checks were carried out around the farmhouse after the car was found.
The explosives in the car were defused and the car was shifted to Shehzad Town Police Station. The car was a Suzuki Mehran bearing registration numbers QM-749.
Explosives found under the car's seats were attached to two detonators.
According to the police, the car was meant to target Musharraf’s convoy on his return from the Rawalpindi anti-terrorism court earlier during the day. The car did not explode as the detonators failed, the police added.
The Adiala Jail staff took administrative control of the plush farmhouse after it was declared a sub-jail by the Islamabad chief commissioner at a request of the local police. The move saved the former president from the indignity and risk of going to prison.
Earlier, the Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan had threatened to use suicide bombers and snipers to kill Musharraf after his return to Pakistan. In a video message, the Taliban said that a special assault unit and a close combat team were also arranged for the task.

Release Musharraf ASAP
@naeem khan Manhattan,Ks:
so you are elected by people who have no idea what democracy is make you more important...
The guy is a general...he followed rules for atleast 20 years of life..and than he was awarded this rank.... He didnt give Briyani in a remote village and just won the votes......
As far as i understand, Allah is protecting him as only Allah can take away life from anyone. He got away from many close attacks, so luck is with him.
@Waseem:
That's right, look at Nawaz Shareef he has enclosed himself in a cage to speak in public.
tewari... since when do you care about mushy's security?
@Babloo: Janab Babloo Sahib, Hazoor since you think he will be safe in a PRISON, then let him remain in prison for his personal safely.
@hamza khan: Will condemnation make any impact on terrorists? Are you still dreaming that public opinion counts in decision making in this country?
@ Singh. Most comments are NOT against PM. Go to the reader's recommendations tabs and you'll see by far the most recommended are FOR Musharraf. This is the problem with anti-Musharraf people that they distort the truth. But all other people are smarter than that.
@ Naeem Khan, Manhattan. Musharraf is not responsible for ZAB, and Nawaz brought the fate down to himself. His departure was universally celebrated. He could not get along with the President, the judiciary, and the militarty. He looted the country dry (2nd on the most corrupt countries list was his gift to the nation), and left it a failed state. Musharraf's record of good governance is well documented and only dishonest people would deny it.
Too many obvious questions arise that makes this whole thing appear like a staged affair.
@shahid: No one forced Musharraf to come to pakistan. And now that he is here, he has to face the music! Hope the gullible awaan dont buy this hoax story....
Most comments are against PM. Just imagine if car has exploded, same people start writing other way around. Don't be so blind with hatred to ignore handiwork of terrorist. He might hate India but love for his country can't be overlook.
The plan to attack him always fails...Nice drama by him and his supporters to get sympathy which is not anymore
Judiciary will be responsible if President Musharraf is harmed in any terrorist activity. By moving him from one court to another and requiring to appear in person they are making him vulnerable.
@Sajid Iqbal:
yet still pakistanis do nothing to condemn these attacks and stand up against these attacks.
@naeem khan Manhattan,Ks:
And yet Musharraf has done more for this country's prosperity than NS, ZAB or any other looters who pillaged and plundered this country under the banner of democracy.
Musharraf should not die so easily. He has a lot of answering to do.
He has to especially answer for Kargil. Why he backstabbed India and most importantly how stupid is he that he thought Indians wouldn't react.
If the plan to kill Musarraf would have been successful then it would have created a situation in which the conduction of election process was almost impossible , and hence it is the responsibility of CJ to ensure security of gen ( r) Musarraf .
@ Naeem Khan I guess you forget that the same Taliban who are targetting PM have even attacked your army headquaters which are far more secure than a sub jail. Moreover, irrespective of whatever he has done - though nothing is proved against him STILL, only selfish lawyers and judiciary is trying to humiliate him - he deserves to be protected like anyother under threat person. STATE MUST PROVIDE HIM FULL SECURITY otherwise they'll be tried for what Mush has been accused of BB assasination.
Musharraf indeed a great leader. Since his departure Pakistan unfortunately is heading towards a failed state.
there are mentally retargeted fanatics who can cause harm. President Musharaf must be kept safe by all means. This is the responsibility of the state, even if it requires safe exit.
Why do terrorists not appreciate the sacrifices of ex-COAS :(
Federation snubs the judiciary ' s holy of holies . Hubris dies with difficulty .
Seems like a Bollywood story. Very few of the leftover Musharaf supporters now will start demanding that he is not safe in this country anymore, and the 'forces' behind Musharaf will use this as an excuse to fly him away from Pakistan.
I am not getting excited about the fact that finally we have laws in the country that will treat civilians and army men at the same level.
This shows Mr Musharraf is not safe in his farm house. Please move him to a real Prison.
@Enlightened: Would you like same standard for 180 million other vulnerable to terrorist attacks?
My God. think of the calamity and news it would have created not to mention chaos and riots.
Looks like an insider job to garner sympathy. Mushy has fooled Pakistani's for long (dealing with US on drones and saying something else publicly) but not any more.
If any one is going to believe this hoax, they are living in the la la land. With all the security arrangements, no one is coming close to that posh sub-jail, did they arrest anyone driving the car to that location. It is the work of some intelligence outfit to generate sympathy for the former dictator and wants him to move out of the country. Stay put Mush and face the music, your life is not as important as the former prime ministers, ZAB and NS, they were elected prime ministers and you took over with the barell of the gun.
Long live President Gen (R) Pervaiz Musharraf. A great Man
Plan is underway for providing safe exit to Mr. Musharraf. This morning his lawyer indicated that his mother is not well in Dubai and now life threat. The countdown to his safe exit has started.
Well it is a serious matter, which clearly shows that he is not safe in Pakistan and before any untoward happens, Musharraf like Malala should be flown out of the country and most probably to UK. The ongoing cases can be fought by his lawyers and he can appear through video conferencing.
Thank God!! God bless you Sir
