ISLAMABAD: The Capital Development Authority (CDA) will be extending the car park at Saidpur Village by removing encroachments near the area to accommodate more visitors.

The decision was announced by CDA Chairman Tahir Shahbaz on Sunday prior to his visit to the village.

Shahbaz has resolved to restore the historic village’s natural beauty by upgrading its sanitation system and removing encroachments.

He said the decision was taken because local and foreign visitors were showing a greater interest in the village’s rich culture and traditional heritage.

“The encroachments are becoming a nuisance and are marring the beauty of Saidpur Village. The concerned departments have been directed to deal primarily with those which have cropped up in front of hotels and restaurants,” Shahbaz said.

He also directed CDA’s Sanitation Directorate to draft a comprehensive plan to improve the village’s hygiene situation.

Shahbaz said the CDA was also working towards promoting entertainment and cultural activities for the villagers, as this would help build a peaceful image of the country at both the national and international levels.
