PESHAWAR:

Keeping in mind the procedure laid down by the Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (K-P) government, Hangu’s district administration has made it mandatory for the owner of a property to furnish an agreement before renting it out to foreigners, including diplomats.

The Home and Tribal Affairs department informed the administration of the guidelines on March 12. Following this, Deputy Commissioner Hangu Tahir Zafar Abbasi imposed Section 144 of the Code of Criminal Procedure, 1898, which binds property owners to sign an agreement accordingly.

A statement issued by the home department on Sunday said the police chief has been asked to regularise the practice of renting houses.

It maintained a number of houses have been rented by local and international welfare organisations and foreign missions, but a proper record did not exist. This, it added, has resulted in a security risk which warrants the attention of all stakeholders.
